Global Head of User Experience & Design

**Your responsibilities**:

- Create and own a holistic industrial design language for the ABB E-mobility Products and Portfolio.
- Recruit and establish Industrial Design as a core capability of the E-Mobility product creation process.
- Set and own CMF strategy. You develop the strategic & tactical plans for aligning the CMF Design vision with company strategy and product roadmap..
- Manage CMF Design from research and design, through concept to production.
- Establish networks and manage relationships for the CMF function internally and within our existing and potential supply chains.
- Maintain a high level of design, colour & material insights to ensure contemporary and innovative solutions.
- Drive user experience & design across the organization as a member of Design LT and broader E_Mobilty extended LT.
- Work closely with Heads of User Experience, CMF, Creative Technology, and Design Operations to establish processes, creative culture, and core capabilities to elevate design as a practice in E_Mobility.
- Achieve increasing levels of fidelity with concept sketches, CAD models, scaled prototypes, Virtual Reality, and full-size mockup fabrication culminating with a functional crew simulator/trainer system.
- Negotiate the product design, aesthetics, form, and function with both senior management and our mechanical engineers to ensure a unified experience while preserving technical requirements and schedule.
- Gather stakeholder feedback early in the design process and Design direction to provide a unique and enduring design language for future ABB products and experiences.
- Liaise with selected agencies and customers, and facilitate tight coordination between the internal and external teams.
- Work with suppliers to achieve the best possible product in terms of craftsmanship, cost, and engineering, while also staying as close to the design vision as possible.

**Your background**:

- Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Architecture, or a related design discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 15+ years of industrial design experience ideally within the consumer products, architecture, automobile, furniture design, or adjacent industries
- 8+ years of people leadership and mentorship of design teams
- A keen sense of design with an exceptional portfolio to demonstrate your capabilities
- Experience creating holistic products influenced by user experience, interaction design and manufacturing constraints
- Ability to creatively solve problems and bring multiple disciplines together while preserving an uncompromising design DNA
- Comfortable making design and development decisions with incomplete data sets or evolving requirements
- Strong sense of creativity, accountability, and people leadership with excellent motivational, communication, and design leadership
- Strong operational and project planning
- Strong values as to work/life balance and a broad creative perspective on Design history, culture, and business benefit of Design as a capability
- Plan budgets: Work with cross-functional leaders to allocate the resources necessary for the Industrial Design team to complete their work
- Must be willing to be located in or travel frequently to Chianti, Italy or Delft, Netherlands. Willingness to travel as required to meet with domestic and international customers (< 15%)
