In the Biomarkers and Omics Group of the Translational Sciences division, our mission is to develop biomarkers and leverage omics experiments to support decision-making in drug discovery and clinical development. To complement our team, we are looking for a Team Leader Molecular Biomarkers with interest in translating research concepts to drug discovery and clinical development. As a lab head, you will contribute together with a team of scientific associates to mechanistic omics studies, identify biomarkers, and develop, validate, and implement suitable assays to study biomarkers in preclinical and clinical studies. You will analyze, visualize, and report biomarker data from preclinical and clinical studies. You will ensure technical excellence in mass spectrometry-based, ligand binding, and flow cytometry biomarker assays and evolve the laboratory expertise.

As a member of the Biomarkers and Omics Group, you will contribute to ensure best practice in both omics experiments, biomarker research, and the implementation of exploratory biomarkers in clinical development. With your scientific excellence and curiosity for novel approaches and technologies you will be essential for the success of our portfolio. Your proactive and positive mindset, and your excellent communication skills will make you a valuable colleague in the Biomarkers and Omics Group.

**Responsibilities**:

- Lead the strategy at Idorsia for mass spectrometry-based omics experiments, ligand-binding assays, and clinical flow cytometry for both drug discovery and clinical development
- Lead, manage and develop a team of scientific associates and ensure appropriate training to perform the required tasks
- Together with the group leader and stakeholders further develop the translational biomarker and omics strategy at Idorsia
- Propose, design, and implement experiments to identify and characterize novel biomarkers and elucidate the mechanism of action of compounds. Analyze the data and derive conclusions together with the team and present them to stakeholders
- Identify, develop, validate, and implement biomarker assays in preclinical models and clinical studies
- Build and develop scientific relationships with CROs, industrial partners, cross-industry working groups, and academic collaborators to ensure appropriate execution of biomarker studies and biomarker measurements
- Lead activities to ensure implementation of novel technologies to perform omics experiments and analyze biomarkers
- Author and review internal documents as well as publish and present work in peer-reviewed journals and international conferences
- PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or equivalent with a strong inter-disciplinary mindset
- Post-doctoral or pharmaceutical or biotech industry experience in biomarkers and /or diagnostics
- Several years of hands-on laboratory experience in performing and analyzing mass spectrometry-based proteomic or metabolomic studies
- Experience in ligand binding assays and flow cytometry is an asset
- Strong experience in using R or python for data analysis
- Scientific excellence demonstrated by a strong publication record
- Strong communication skills
- Team player, at ease interacting in a multicultural environment.
- Excellent oral and written English skills
