The Department of Medical Parasitology and Infection Biology (MPI) of Swiss TPH conducts basic and translational research in infection biology with a particular focus on infectious diseases affecting the global poor.
**The Tuberculosis Research Unit and Hookworm Immuno-biology group**, led by Prof. Sebastien Gagneux and Dr. Tiffany Bouchery is currently looking for a
Laboratory Technician for BSL-2 (80 - 100 %).
The primary role of the successful applicant will be general laboratory technical support in Prof. Sebastien Gagneux's Unit and Tiffany's group.
**Your position**
The primary role of the successful applicant will be general laboratory technical support in Prof. Sebastien Gagneux's Unit and Tiffany's group.
This position will encompass 3 main areas of activities:
1. The management of; the _Mycobacterium tuberculosis_ DNA collection and of parasites life cycle, mainly in the BSL2 lab
2. Laboratory management (Ordering supplies, controlling material and reagents)
3. General technical support of diverse research projects in the molecular laboratory of the Tuberculosis Research Unit and of the Hookworm Immuno-biology group.
In the Tuberculosis Research Unit, the post holder will be primarily responsible for the maintenance of M. tuberculosis DNA collection, coordinating the sample processing for whole genome sequencing and setting up routine molecular experiments for genotyping and molecular drug resistance identification.
In the Hookworm Immuno-biology group, the post holder will be primarily responsible for the maintenance of the parasite life-cycles and cell culture of parasites for immune or drug discovery purpose.
In addition, for both groups, the responsibilities will include ordering supplies, controlling material and reagents as well as maintenance of relevant databases.
