Training Assistant

The position is located in the Learning and Development Unit (LDU), Duty of Care, Wellbeing and Capacity Development Section, Executive Office in the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), in Geneva. OCHA is the part of the United Nations Secretariat responsible for bringing together humanitarian actors to ensure a coherent response to emergencies. OCHA also ensures there is a framework within which each actor can contribute to the overall response efforts. OCHA's mission is to mobilize and coordinate effective and principled humanitarian action in partnership with national and international actors in order to alleviate human suffering in disasters and emergencies; advocate the rights of people in need; promote preparedness and prevention and facilitate sustainable solutions.
The incumbent will report to the Head, Learning and Development Unit (LDU).
**Responsibilities**:
Under the supervision of the Head, LDU, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:
Organizes and facilitates decentralized training opportunities, in collaboration with the world-wide network of OCHA learning focal points, to bring learning closer to field staff by:
- Organizing orientation webinars for learning focal points, to guide them and coach them on different training systems, and to share learning information
- Disseminating information on learning resources and products -Coordinating and secretariat services for the Learning Champion Network -Updating and maintaining contact lists -Liaising and coordinating with UNOG/LDU issues related to the INSPIRA learning platform/tool. Provides communication and guidance to OCHA staff: -Researching and promoting relevant learning and training activities, including in-house courses, OHRM and UNOG learning opportunities, UN-led invitations and other initiatives offered by external providers -Facilitating registration of OCHA staff participating in learning programmes -Ensuring proactive, professional, internal and external communication with partners, service providers and in-house clients -Providing assistance to OCHA staff in relation to career support services and resources -Communicating learning policy issues and training offers to OCHA staff -Regularly updating the OCHA Hub Learning Centre which is the Learning and Development Unit's page on the Intranet.

Education
Secondary school or its equivalent technical or commercial school is required.
Work Experience
At least five (5) years of relevant experience in administrative services, human resources or related areas are required.
Out of five (5) years of relevant experience, at least two (2) years of experience in the area of adult learning, training or staff development is desirable.
Experience within the United Nations Common System or comparable international organization is desirable.
Experience using a Learning Management System, Applications & Products (SAP/UMOJA), PeopleSoft, or any similar Enterprise Resource Planning System (ERP) is desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised, fluency in English and knowledge of French are required.
