The Analytical development unit is seeking to fill a position with a highly qualified materials science expert, solid state expert or physico-chemist, with profound background in the analytics and physicochemical characterization of pharmaceutical solids, in particular powders and dispersed systems.

Your responsibility:

- Design, plan, perform, interpret and report results of scientific experiments for the characterization of material properties and process conditions and the evaluation of the functional relation to API / final drug product manufacturing and quality.
- Characterization of pharmaceutical powders for particle size distribution, specific surface area, powder porosity, powder density, flowability, powder porosity, agglomeration, segregation, triboelectricity, breakage behavior, compatibility. Expert for properties of powders and dispersed systems of APIs.
- Drive the experimental characterization of particulate and bulk APIs / final drug product properties by available and / or new analytical technologies / methodologies such as laser light diffraction, gas sorption, gas pycnometry, ring shear tester, porosimetry, air-jet sieving, dynamic image analysis, ultrasound extinction spectroscopy, zeta-potential and others.
- Interact / collaborate across our interfaces with partners of API and final drug product process development and manufacturing, enabling development of suitable API powder quality, understanding API - DP relationship and to facilitate transfer of knowledge, analytical methods and established methodologies.
- Providing support for powder compaction characterization and understanding (wet & dry granulation, tableting)
- Development, justification, implementation and registration of powder properties specifications.

**Minimum requirements**

Minimum requirements:

- Education: Advanced degree in a scientific or relevant discipline, e.g. applied physics, particle technology, chemistry, materials science, pharmacy, chemical or process engineering, (Ph.D. or equivalent), good knowledge of modelling tools; good presentation and scientific/analytical writing skills; good organization, planning and negotiation skills.
- Successfully demonstrated several years (minimum of 3 years) of directly related experience as scientist, Ph.D. or equivalent, preferably experience in pharmaceutical industry.
- Good knowledge of English (oral and written). Desirable knowledge of site language.
