We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated Research Associate to enhance our preclinical team and contribute to the development of innovative therapeutic modalities. This position is a one-year fixed-term opportunity that offers a tremendous chance to support our portfolio companies within an experienced, vibrant, and agile biotech team.
In this role, you will bring hands-on expertise in protein characterization and developability studies, while contributing to a dynamic and collaborative environment. The ideal candidate is a proactive and enthusiastic team player with strong analytical and organizational abilities, eager to expand their skills beyond their core expertise.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform analytical testing of diverse therapeutic modalities to support product characterization and quality control.
- Design and execute developability studies, including stress tests and analytical screenings, with therapeutic development candidates.
- Design and perform formulation screenings, including feasibility studies for high-concentration formulations.
- Adapt and optimize experimental approaches based on modalities, leveraging literature research to inform study design.
- Develop and implement novel, state-of-the-art characterization techniques.
- Support outsourced preclinical studies as CRO coordinator and manage study logistics.
- Review, analyze, and interpret experimental data, generating clear figures and tables for presentations and technical reports.
- Serve as a technical expert in project team meetings, providing data-driven recommendations for candidate selection.
- Accurately and promptly document experimental results in electronic lab notebooks in compliance with internal standards.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in a scientific discipline with 2+ years of relevant experience in academia, biotechnology, or the pharmaceutical industry.
- Comprehensive understanding and practical expertise in analytical tools for protein characterization, including chromatography techniques (e.g., SEC, HIC, IEX) and electrophoretic methods (e.g., cIEF, CE-SDS).
- Experience in small molecule characterization and formulation is a strong plus.
- Prior hands-on experience with mass spectrometry is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of scientific rigor, precision, and attention to detail in experimental design and execution.
