Sustainability Manager

Sustainability is essential to our success and we are seeking a passionate and knowledgeable individual who can support our sustainability journey.
Reporting to our Director of Sustainability, the Sustainability Manager will help ensure the development, oversight and implementation of the sustainability strategy and programme of MSC Cruises.
- Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in Sustainability or other related area
- Minimum of 5 years of sustainability experience, preferably within the shipping\/ transportation industry
- Knowledge and experience of sustainability-related compliance, reporting and assurance including an understanding of sustainability reporting frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD etc.) and non-financial reporting expectations
- Proven experience in managing and delivering sustainability-related projects
- A strong understanding of sustainability innovations and trends
- Proficient in spreadsheets and slide decks (Microsoft Excel \/ PowerPoint)
- Track progress against the company-wide sustainability action plan, ensuring its continued relevance in a changing regulatory environment and stakeholder expectations
- Remain up to date on best practice, industry and legislative environmental and social policies and developments and translating them into actionable improvements
- Data and information gathering to support the production of the annual sustainability report, ensuring alignment with agreed global reporting standards such as GRI and SASB and understanding future non-financial reporting requirements.
- Close engagement with the energy efficiency team to track progress against carbon intensity and net zero emissions goals, supporting the roadmap on this, identifying practices and activities to support it, and proposing effective communications on progress
- Develop and maintain relationships with internal stakeholders to maintain and advance sustainability actions
- Support efforts to identify new external forums and potential partnerships to aid the business in meeting ambitious emissions reductions goals
- Engage with the Communications Department on sustainability messaging and content, as well as liaising more broadly with marketing teams, HR and learning and development colleagues to support internal education and engagement on sustainability related topics
- Represent MSC Cruises at external events with the purpose of advocating for the company’s interest, as well as collecting and sharing information
VISA REQUIREMENTS (if any) Part of the MSC Group, MSC Cruises is the market leader in the Mediterranean, South Africa and South America, and sails year-round in the Mediterranean and the Caribbean. Its seasonal itineraries cover northern Europe, the Atlantic Ocean, South America, southern Africa, and the Persian/Arabian Gulf. MSC Cruises was born in the Mediterranean, and draws inspiration from this heritage to create a unique experience for holidaymakers worldwide. As a result of a euro 6.5 billions investment programme launched in 2003, MSC Cruises' fleet comprises 13 state-of-the-art cruise ships belonging to four different classes: Lirica, Musica, Fantasia and Meraviglia. The fleet's average age is 7 years, the youngest in the industry. In 2014, MSC Cruises launched a euro 9 billion, 10 year investment plan to support the second phase of its growth through the order of up to 11 next generation mega cruise ships. As a result, MSC Cruises' fleet will double by 2026, while the passenger capacity will triple to reach five million passengers per year. MSC Cruises is the first cruise company to develop an investment plan of this length and magnitude. MSC Cruises feels a deep responsibility for the environments in which it operates, and was the first company ever to earn the Bureau Veritas "7 Golden Pearls" for superior management and environmental stewardship. In 2009, MSC Cruises began an enduring partnership with UNICEF to support various programmes assisting children worldwide.
