**Postdoc in Antarctic modeling of aerosol-cloud interactions**:
**Your mission**:
- The Extreme Environments Research Laboratory (EERL) is looking for a PhD student for the “
- **ORigin of Antarctic CLoud particles and their Effects on the Surface radiation budget (**
**ORACLES**
**)**” project. Within ORACLES we will study aerosol-cloud interactions over Antarctica with a tethered balloon and ground-based remote sensing. Your mission will be to analyze observational data and to perform numerical simulations of aerosol properties (chemical composition, size, vertical distribution) and aerosol-cloud interactions to understand the resulting radiative forcing (we plan to use polar-WRF).
- The EERL focuses on understanding natural and anthropogenic atmospheric processes, as well as exchange processes between the atmosphere and cryosphere, ocean and (inhabited) land that have climate impact and are impacted by climate. EERL forms part of EPFL’s new Alpine and Polar Environments Research Centre (ALPOLE) in Sion.- The position will be granted for three years.**Main duties and responsibilities include**:
Perform research in the field of Antarctic aerosol-cloud interactions.
- Perform numerical simulations based on EERL’s field data and other resources.
- Analysis of data on Antarctic aerosol-cloud interactions.
- Publication in peer-reviewed journals.
- Build a strong network in the field of research.
- Write proposals as a lead or as a collaborator in a consortium.
- Participate in education, and PhD and master student supervision.
- Promote polar research and its impact to the public.
**Your profile**:
- PhD in atmospheric science or a related field.
- Experience in modeling of aerosol-cloud interactions or (aerosol) chemical transport modeling.
- It is an asset to have experience in ground-based remote sensing and reanalysis data analysis.
- Motivation to take up responsibilities in the team.
- Carry out projects independently.
- Good interpersonal skills, team player.
- Good knowledge of English (written and spoken).
