**Position overview**
Position is responsible for base business support on New Product Introduction and secure connectivity between JRD, JSC and CSC for all Platform Technology Large Molecule Drug Substance & Drug Product in Phase1, Phase2a and Phase 2b before handover to PES Commercial Site leads for Phase3 and commercialization. In addition, this position will support supply of commercial Large Molecule or Parenteral products as needed.
Role leads the connection across Janssen organizations and provide support in scoping external landscape and sourcing for clinical supply chain, to ensure that products are available to meet clinical needs, support providing the highest quality at the lowest total cost of ownership, and achieve maximum relationship value through accelerated innovation, supplier integration, process improvement, and collaboration.
The external relationships are complex in nature and require extensive interaction with key business stakeholders, critical supplier leadership, and other segment/functional leadership. The role acts as Single Point of Contact for New Product Introduction connecting PES and greater JSC organization with JRD and especially Clinical Supply Chain teams for all Drug Substance & Drug Product portfolio (Phase1, Phase2a, Phase2b) as well as Virtual GM for assigned relationships, providing oversight for all activities and leads Virtual Management teams including Quality, TechOps, Procurement, Clinical Supply Chain, Planning and Finance to drive high performing sites. The role manages a spend > $20MM.
**Tasks & Responsibilities**:
STRATEGY:
- Shape external network & strategy, Influence and support JRD in alignment with JSC strategy by providing input on the external landscape related to partners and CMOs. Benchmark other J&J and partner companies and industries to identify innovations, continuous improvement, and best in class processes to support JRD (CSC) & PES and business development initiatives. Deeply understand and communicate evolving market opportunities in clinical and commercial space. Work as single point of contact to link PES and JSC with greater JRD organization.
PARTNER ASSESSMENT:
- Assess partners’ capacity and capabilities to support JRD & JSC sourcing initiatives. Lead partner assessment and new product implementation in coordination with virtual management teams, including site visits. Define technology transfer expectations and supply strategy with partners.
PARTNER MANAGEMENT:
- Serve as Single Point of Contact for JRD and as Virtual General Manager with external partners and lead virtual management teams in partner management, providing oversight of all activities and financials. Establish and maintain performance metrics and targets with the goal of improving supply, processes, and systems and eliminating redundancies regarding supply, compliance, finance, and strategy. Partner with CSC and procurement in agreement negotiations and ensure proper functional inputs. Align virtual management team to manage compliance to agreements, as well as overall cost management including seeking cost reduction opportunities. Develop and manage Account Plans, supplier segmentation and manage virtual management teams in delivering on all objectives. Define and establish priorities, requirements, expectations, results, and partner needs between JRD & JSC functions and partners through the use of negotiated agreements.
TECHNICAL DEVELOPMENT SUPPORT:
- Project manage implementation of new product launches at partners to ensure timely product availability (clinical & commercial). Manage plans related to implementation of product changes. Serve as Virtual GM related to partner and determine appropriate actions when key issue remain unresolved.
**Qualifications**
- Required BS/BA required; Graduate degree preferred
- Required 5+ experience in the areas of both general manufacturing (pharma DS or DP, biologics, or other similarly regulated industries) and business management (business development, procurement, value chain management)
- Demonstrated knowledge of functions including Quality, Technical Operations, Finance, Planning and Procurement
