Legal Counsel, EMEA

 

Summary of Key Elements:

 

  • Member of the EMEA Legal Team providing broad commercial, corporate and operational legal support to the EMEA regional business and operations, across geographies, areas of law, businesses and functions.
  • Member of FMC´s broader Global Legal Team, working across regions and different areas of law and activities, supporting FMC´s overall strategy and vision.
  • Closely collaborating and partnering with the EMEA regional commercial teams and operations, developing and delivering high quality business and results.
  • Located at the EMEA regional head-office in Geneva, Switzerland.
  • Reporting to the EMEA Regional Counsel based in Geneva, Switzerland.    

 

 

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Provide broad legal commercial support to the company´s business across the region, including drafting, negotiating and reviewing various types of commercial and IP related contracts and other legal and transactional documents.
  • Provide legal advices and support to various business transactions and go-to-market strategies across the region, incl. sales, marketing, supply and procurement, as well as closely collaborate with and support corp. functions such as finance, tax and treasury.
  • Support the company´s regional research and development activities, intellectual properties, regulatory matters and product stewardship.
  • Partner with the business across the region in developing and implementing high quality business strategies and transactions, ensuring compliance and preserving the company´s IP rights and assets and other commercial interests.
  • Advice, educated and train the regional organization, teams and functions, in relevant areas of compliance and support the development and implementation of the company’s compliance programs and processes.
  • Support global and cross regional law department initiatives and projects, working with colleagues both in FMC’s headquarters in Philadelphia as well as other regions.   
  • The role will require some travelling around the region, primarily Europe.

 

 

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Law degree or equivalent plus LLM and/or Bar Admission in any European country.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience preferably with businesses operating in areas such as Chemistry, Biotech and/or Life Science generally.   
  • Demonstrated ability to work successfully with business partners and across functions in dynamic and complex business environment with strong business and legal judgement.
  • Strong leadership experience, including experience in influencing others, taking initiatives to deliver high-quality results, and creating an environment that engenders teamwork and innovation.
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills, including critical thinking, problem-solving, negotiating, managerial courage, conflict management, composure, and organizational agility, being able to manage competing demands and priorities.
  • Strong English, written and oral presentations skills.  Proficiency in French would be an advantage.
