On behalf of our client, we are seeking a knowledgeable Junior Compliance Officer with a focus on Physical Commodities. This role is based in the dynamic city of Geneva and presents an enticing opportunity to join a global investment management firm. What you'll do:

As a Compliance Officer specialising in Physical Commodities at our client's firm, you will play a crucial role in providing guidance on compliance matters relating to Physical Metals trading. Your expertise will be vital in managing operational aspects of the Compliance programme. You will keep abreast of global physical commodities and financial regulations and provide valuable insights. Your responsibilities will also encompass overseeing various onboarding processes and conducting comprehensive risk assessments. As part of your role, you will formulate policies for the broader compliance programme and ensure their adherence. Acting as a Regulatory liaison will also be a key aspect of your role.

  1. Provide guidance on compliance matters relating to Physical Metals trading, including mining, trading, warranting, warehousing, transport, and hedging of base, precious, and concentrates.
  2. Assist in managing the operational, reporting, and risk related aspects of the Compliance programme.
  3. Monitor, respond to, and provide advice on global physical commodities and financial regulations.
  4. Oversee the vendor, broker, product, and new markets onboarding processes and associated due diligence.
  5. Conduct risk assessments, including conduct, financial crime, and money laundering risk assessments.
  6. Formulate policies as part of the broader compliance programme and monitor adherence to these policies.
  7. Act as Regulatory liaison interacting with regulators, examiners, and auditors.

The ideal candidate for this role brings extensive experience in compliance surrounding physical metals trading. You have proven experience in developing and implementing effective compliance programmes. Your excellent communication skills enable you to interact effectively with regulators and confidently handle queries. You flourish in fast-paced environments where you can demonstrate your ability to manage multiple complex priorities independently. Your strong judgement skills coupled with your crisis and risk management abilities make you an ideal fit for this role.

  1. 3+ years Compliance experience surrounding physical metals trading including production, trading, warehousing and transportation.
  2. Experience in developing and implementing suitable compliance programmes.
  3. Experience of establishing and obtaining required licenses.
  4. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  5. Proven ability to flourish in a fast-paced environment managing multiple complex priorities independently.
  6. Strong judgement skills with crisis and risk management abilities.
