Founded in 1997, Viking is the world’s #1 small ship travel company, operating on rivers, oceans, and lakes around the world. In September 2022, Viking launched the Viking Mississippi, a state-of-the-art 386-guest ship, which cruises along the Mississippi River between New Orleans, LA to St. Paul, MN.
ROLE OVERVIEW
As part of our Mississippi Administration team, your job is to provide guests with friendly, personalized front-desk service at all times, including concierge onboard in accordance with Viking’s STAR Service Standards. You will report to the Guest Services Manager.
WHAT YOU WILL DO ON BOARD
- Serve as the primary source of information for guests, providing concierge services according to shift schedule.
- Process onboard sales transactions and operate phone switchboard, cashless system, and safety system.
- Ensure smooth operation of guest infotainment system.
- Plan and execute embarkation, disembarkation, and check-in/out procedures.
- Maintain daily logbook and guest manifests, handle guest complaints, and prepare guest lists and invitations.
- Coordinate guest travel arrangements and assist with shore excursions while providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.
ABOUT YOU
- 2+ years’ experience in the scope of the Front Office department or similar at a 5-Star hospitality and/or restaurant environment; shipboard experience is an advantage.
- High school diploma required, and degree with hospitality focus preferred.
- Physically fit and in good health; extensive walking required and ability to stand on feet for long periods of time.
- Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance, and impeccable hygiene standards.
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
- U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident (green card) to work onboard the ship, as required by federal regulations.
- Ability to satisfactorily pass a pre-employment drug test, including testing for marijuana and other controlled substances. We are a Drug-Free and Alcohol-Free workplace.
- Viking Cruises is an At-Will Employer. Your employment with Viking is voluntary and subject to termination with or without cause or notice, at any time by you or Viking.
