DEVELOPMENT COORDINATOR

Main responsibilities:

As a Development Coordinator at World Aquatics, you will be responsible for coordination and implementation of a variety of global programmes.

This position offers an exciting opportunity and a pivotal role in advancing the education and professional development of coaches across all aquatic disciplines.

As the Development Coordinator, you will play a key role in shaping the World Aquatics coaches’ education and development programmes. This role is integral to our mission of fostering development, inclusivity and change in the world.

Key Responsibilities

World Aquatics Coaches Certification Courses:

  • Design and oversee the implementation of the World Aquatics Coaches Certification framework.
  • Lead the development and execution of Coaches Certification courses across all aquatic sports.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to develop course content, curriculum, and supporting resources for the certification programme.
  • Continuously review and update course content to ensure relevance and alignment with best practices.
  • Maintain a roster of qualified experts, providing training and support for effective course delivery.
  • Organise certification courses, monitoring their implementation and evaluating outcomes to ensure programme quality.
  • Ensure the timely distribution of programme materials and resources to participants.
  • Establish and nurture partnerships with governmental and non-governmental organisations, universities, and other educational institutions to enhance programme reach and impact.

World Aquatics coaches’ education:

  • Organise training and online courses, webinars and other educational activities for coaches.
  • Create an online education strategy and an action plan for coaches’ development needs.
  • Implement the World Aquatics online education strategy for coaches.
  • Maintain and enhance the network of experts, lecturers, and local educators, ensuring continuous knowledge enhancement and capacity building.
  • Liaise with key stakeholders to advance initiatives focused on coaches’ education initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and collaborate with National Federations and other stakeholders to enhance their coaches’ education programmes.
  • Design and implement targeted projects aimed at the education and professional growth of coaches.
  • Manage the implementation of Olympic Solidarity initiatives related to coaches’ education and training.

World Aquatics clinics for coaches:

  • Design a comprehensive strategy for organisation of clinics for coaches worldwide.
  • Create programme’s guidelines, implementation, monitoring and evaluation plan.
  • Partner with Continental Organisations on to effectively implement and evaluate coaching clinics, ensuring regional relevance and impact.

Programme Evaluation and Reporting:

  • Ensure the implementation and follow up of the programmes’ monitoring framework.
  • Establish an evaluation mechanism for the programmes.
  • Analyse the stakeholders’ reports, come to conclusions and propose programme updates.
  • Provide quarterly and annual reports for the programmes or upon request from the line manager.
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative impact analysis on the programmes under the set portfolio.
  • Provide proposals and suggestions for the strategy and development of the programmes.
  • •Provide assistance and support to the coaches on any education and development related issues.

Financial and Budget Oversight:

  • Manage invoicing, financial reporting, and budget follow-up related to the programmes under the coordinator’s portfolio.
  • Miscellaneous Tasks:
  • Assist with any additional tasks required to ensure the success of the World Aquatics coaches’ education and development programmes, including event support, operational planning, and ad-hoc administrative tasks.
  • Provide back-up support for other staff members when necessary, ensuring that the programmes run smoothly even during absences.

Key Qualifications:

  • Education, Language and IT Skills:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sports Management, Coaches’ Education, Education, or a related field.
  • Full proficiency with Microsoft Office and other digital tools.
  • Fluency (both written and oral) in English. Good knowledge of French, Spanish or other language skills a plus.

Experience and skills:

  • At least 3 years of administrative, programme development and implementation experience, preferably in an international environment.
  • Experience in managing multiple international stakeholders.
  • Experience in development and implementation of educational programmes.
  • Knowledge and interest in education, coaches’ professional development, high performance, and other areas.
  • Experience in coaching or coach education would be an advantage.
  • Excellent organisational and multitasking skills, with the ability to manage multiple geographic projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented, with a focus on accuracy in administrative tasks and reporting.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented approach to addressing challenges.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced, multicultural environment.
  • Flexibility in working hours, including occasional evening and weekend work for events or travel coordination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Culturally sensitive with experience working with global stakeholders.
