Background

The duration of the assignment is 364 days. The United Nations Women’s Peace and Humanitarian Fund (WPHF) is a partnership between the United Nations, Member States, and civil society, which supports women-led and women’s rights organizations working to build peace and provide humanitarian response throughout the world.

About the Position

Reporting to the WPHF Programme Coordinator (P3), the Programme Analyst contributes to the effective management of the WPHF’s Regular Funding Cycle in Africa and the Arab States as well as the Food Security Portfolio by providing substantive inputs to programme design, formulation, implementation and evaluation.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies in the area of Women, Peace and Security and Humanitarian Action for WPHF in Africa and the Arab States
    • Provide substantive inputs to the design and formulation of (multi-) country call for proposals and thematic initiatives such as food security;
    • Identify areas for support and intervention related to the programme.
  2. Provide substantive technical support to the implementation and management of the WPHF Regular Funding Cycle
    • Support the coordination of Calls for Proposals;
    • Support the evaluations of project proposals;
    • Draft reports on coordination calls, monitoring missions, programme results, outputs and outcomes.
  3. Provide technical assistance and capacity development to partners
    • Coordinate and provide technical support to Management Entities;
    • Maintain relationships with UN Country Offices;
    • Identify opportunities for capacity building and trainings for partners.
  4. Provide technical inputs to the monitoring and reporting of WPHF Regular Funding cycle
    • Support the monitoring of the implementation of the Fund’s portfolio;
    • Provide substantive inputs to the preparation of donor and WPHF reports.
  5. Provide substantive inputs to resource mobilization, advocacy, knowledge building and communication efforts
    • Develop background documents, donor briefs and presentations;
    • Provide support to advocacy campaigns, events, retreats, trainings, workshops and knowledge products.
Required Skills and Experience

Education and Certification:

  • Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field is required;
  • A first-level university degree in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.

Experience:

  • At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting;
  • Work experience with programmes implemented in Africa and the Middle East is required.
  • Experience in programmes or policy related to women, peace and security and humanitarian action is required.

Languages:

  • Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
