We are looking for a Senior Credit Risk Officer to play a key role in assessing, mitigating, and monitoring credit risk across the bank’s broad portfolio, spanning Individuals, Corporates, Financial Institutions, and Commodity Traders. This position requires a strong understanding of credit risk principles, financial analysis, and regulatory requirements. The candidate will work closely with relationship managers, deal teams, and senior management to ensure sound credit decisions and maintain a robust credit culture. These may include shaping risk governance, managing the internal control framework, and preparing key reports for the Board. Key responsibilities:
- Evaluate credit applications by conducting thorough risk analyses and providing well-founded recommendations to relevant Credit Authority.
- Analyze financial statements, industry trends, and market data to assess the creditworthiness of borrowers and counterparties.
- Monitor the credit portfolio’s performance and proactively identify emerging credit concerns.
- Conduct in-depth credit reviews and prepare comprehensive credit reports and presentations.
- Oversee and manage daily credit operations, including monitoring workflows, resolving operational challenges, and ensuring timely and accurate documentation.
- Prepare regular credit risk reports for senior management, offering insights into the credit portfolio’s health and trends.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on credit risks, risk processes, applicable procedures, and the bank’s credit risk tolerance.
- Assist in managing the bank-wide risk framework and contribute to the ongoing development of the Bank’s risk management governance, methodologies, and policies, with a focus on credit risk.
- Ensure compliance with the bank's standards, risk appetite, and all applicable regulatory requirements, while staying informed of regulatory changes and their implications for credit underwriting practices.
- Supervise and report on the Internal Control Framework, ensuring its effective implementation, maintenance, and alignment with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements.
- Perform additional duties as required, aligning with the bank’s evolving needs and growth stage.
Your experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Economics, Accounting, or a related field (higher education such as CFA, FRM, or CIIA is an asset).
- At least 5+ years of relevant credit risk experience in a (small) international bank and/or similar organization.
- Proficient in corporate banking with a deep understanding of credit risk in the commodity and trade finance sector.
- Comprehensive knowledge of credit risk principles, credit scoring methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Skilled in analyzing complex financial data to identify key risks and develop actionable insights.
- Demonstrates precision and reliability, with the ability to work autonomously and maintain high accuracy.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, adept at translating complex concepts into clear reports and visualizations.
- Creative thinker capable of challenging norms and delivering out-of-the-box solutions to complex problems.
- Eager to embrace challenges in a dynamic, growing bank environment and willing to go the extra mile.
- Strong interest in and experience with the Finnova core banking system is a plus.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in German is an advantage.
