360 Labs Initiative at a Glance
The 360 Labs are a new capability that is currently being built up within the Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organization (pRED. The primary mission of this effort is to provide greater access and support for the use of cutting-edge biomedical research technologies by scientists across our discovery portfolio.
The 360 Labs will deliver core scientific technologies, expertise and enabling activities, as well as facilitate knowledge sharing in close collaboration with our therapeutic areas and functions. The OpportunityThe Genomics Technology Platform in the 360 Labs Initiative is seeking an experienced, highly motivated, collaborative, and customer-oriented lab-based scientist who is passionate about using spatial transcriptomics in drug discovery. The successful candidate will have a robust background in molecular biology or biochemistry along with hands-on expertise in the application of 10X Genomics Xenium imaging-based spatial transcriptomics. You will operate at the intersection between the Research Histopathology and Genomics Technology Platforms. You will work with a sense of urgency as a member of a matrix team, collaborating with specialists from each of our therapeutic disease areas and functions to propel drug discovery projects forward, and will also contribute to the ongoing development of the Genomics Technology Platform within the pRED organization.
Your Role and Responsibilities- Independently plan, design, and conduct experiments to explore the spatially resolved transcriptome for disease biology and drug mechanism insights, while developing and optimizing both standard and customized spatial transcriptomics workflows using the 10X Genomics Xenium platform, including data quality control and processing;
- Apply scientific rigor to ensure high-quality FAIR data generation by optimizing newly implemented or developed spatial transcriptomics workflows, collaborate with other laboratory and bioinformatics teams to analyze and interpret spatial transcriptomics data, be accountable for the timely generation of comprehensive project reports and engage with stakeholders to present and discuss findings in a dynamic and flexible manner;
- Embrace a continuous learning mindset by actively engaging with the scientific literature to stay abreast of emergent technologies/ approaches in the spatial transcriptomics field.
- You hold a PhD degree in Biology, Biochemistry or a related field, with 3-5 years of professional experience, either in an academic setting, or in the pharmaceutical industry / biotech sector;
- You have practical, hands-on experience in the implementation, optimisation, and execution of both routine and custom-designed assays using the 10X Genomics Xenium spatial transcriptomics platform in a rigorous and reproducible manner. Expertise in other NGS-based spatial transcriptomics methodologies will be considered a plus;
- You have a proven ability to collaborate within and across matrix teams, including molecular biologists, research histopathologists, and bioinformaticians, to design spatial transcriptomics assays and interpret results.
