Job Description:BACKGROUND ON IMPACT AND REACHIMPACT Initiatives is a humanitarian NGO, based in Geneva, Switzerland. The organisation manages several initiatives, including the REACH Initiative. The IMPACT team comprises specialists in data collection, management and analysis and GIS. IMPACT was launched at the initiative of ACTED, an international NGO whose headquarter is based in Paris and is present in thirty countries.
We are currently looking for a Country Representative to oversee our team in Kenya and Somalia.

COUNTRY PROFILESomalia has been experiencing a multi-layered, complex, and protracted crisis over the past three decades, due to periodic disasters and climate-driven shocks, such as droughts and flooding. This has led to much internal displacement resulting in large IDP populations in urban areas. IMPACT began working in Somalia/Somaliland in 2012 to fill information gaps and provide timely data on the humanitarian needs of displaced and vulnerable populations.
Kenya and Somalia have faced cyclical shocks of climate-induced displacement and conflict-driven crises, creating persistent and complex humanitarian needs. Prolonged droughts, exacerbated by climate change, have decimated livelihoods dependent on agriculture and pastoralism.
POSITION PROFILEUnder the management of IMPACT’s Regional Coordinator, the Country Representative (CR) is responsible for representing IMPACT and managing and developing IMPACT’s programs in Kenya and Somalia. The CR leads the IMPACT team to achieve program excellence and ensure the highest level of impact and accountability.
The position will be based in Nairobi, with regular visits to Mogadishu and other bases in Somalia and Kenya.
RESPONSIBILITIESSTRATEGY DEVELOPMENT & IMPLEMENTATIONEnsure IMPACT has an up-to-date understanding of Kenya and Somalia’s socio-economic situations, and develop and oversee the implementation of a Country Strategy for the mission.
FUNDRAISINGIn close coordination with IMPACT HQ, approach donors to identify funding to support IMPACT’s programs in country.
PROGRAMME PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATIONEnsure that all IMPACT programs contribute to supporting better aid planning and align with IMPACT global and country strategies.
PROJECT CYCLE MANAGEMENTGrant and Project Management: ensure that contractual obligations are met in terms of deliverables as well as narrative and financial reporting requirements.
TEAM MANAGEMENT AND LEADERSHIPProvide leadership across the mission and ensure that all staff have clear and regularly updated TORs, workplans, and Key performance Indicators.
INTERNAL COORDINATION AND COMMUNICATIONFacilitate internal communication within the team and ensure regular reporting to IMPACT HQ.
EXTERNAL ENGAGEMENTEstablish, maintain and improve active and regular working relationships with coordination platforms, UN agencies, donors, NGOs, and key decision-making forums.
REQUIREMENTSYears of work experience: At least 5 years of relevant working experience in the humanitarian field.
Management experience: Previous experience in a senior management role in an INGO at field level.
Leadership skills: Ability to motivate and encourage teams.
Academic qualifications: Excellent academic qualifications, including a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
Language skills: Fluency in English required, competency in Somali and/or Swahili is an asset.
CONDITIONSFor this position, salary between 5’520 CHF and 5’640 CHF monthly (before income tax), as well as a monthly living allowance of 500 USD.
Accommodation and food provided in a guesthouse.
Annual leave of 36 days per year. Public holidays of the country of assignment. Family/compassionate leave when applicable.
