Chief Product Officer

BigFilter.ai is a social impact startup that's building Net-scale solutions for the global information crisis. We're looking for a motivated and capable CPO to lead the design of the innovative products and platforms essential to our mission.

Location: Hybrid. 80% remote / 20% on-site (in Europe)

Key Responsibilities- Product Strategy & Vision: Define and communicate the product vision and strategy, ensuring alignment with the company's mission and goals while also addressing users' needs. Develop a compelling product roadmap that balances short-term objectives with long-term vision.
- Product Development: Lead the product development process from ideation through to launch and ongoing improvements. Collaborate closely with other teams, including Engineering, Marketing, and Sales, to ensure cohesive product development.
- Market & Customer Research: Conduct market analysis to stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and competitor activities. Engage with customers and customer-facing staff to gather insights, understand their needs, and integrate feedback into product improvements.
- Customer Advocacy & Positive Social Impact: Serve as the voice of the customer within the organization, using a mix of qualitative and quantitative methods to ensure deep customer understanding. Work with these insights and other teams, as well as a broad range of advisors and subject matter experts, to minimize potential harms and maximize broad benefits of our platforms and products for users and society as a whole.
- Product Team: Create, manage, and lead the Product team. Mentor and coach team members, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the products adhere to relevant regulatory standards and data privacy laws.
The CPO will also take part in:
- Security: Prioritize security features and best practices to protect user data, privacy, and safety, and build and maintain user trust.
- Product Marketing: Coordinating with and supporting Marketing in product marketing activities, go-to-market planning, and strategic communication work.
- Investor Relations: Communicate product strategy and progress to investors and stakeholders.
- Mission-Driven Impact/Social Impact Focus: We're working to address major unsolved problems for mankind using a cross-disciplinary approach that includes cutting-edge technology. - Scaling a Startup: We have pre-seed funding and are seeking a seed round. Being part of an early-stage startup means the CPO will play a crucial role in scaling the company's products and Product Team. This is an exciting challenge for those who enjoy the dynamic environment of startups and want to see their efforts directly contribute to rapid growth.
- Our first product will help knowledge workers create and distribute high-quality knowledge more quickly, easily, and effectively. Future products will allow every web user to easily find and understand high-quality knowledge on any important public topic.
- We're building our tests and demos using off-the-shelf technologies. However, recognizing the limits of these technologies—especially with regards to bias, explainability, and energy consumption—we will need to train models and create some other technology with the characteristics we need.
- This early product will need to run at a scale similar to a smaller modern search engine. Future products will need to operate at the scale of the largest existing platforms.
- 10+ years of product management experience, including leadership and strategic vision.
- Proven ability to define and execute product strategies aligned with company mission and business goals, with experience in both startup and corporate settings.
- Expertise in designing, launching, and finding product-market fit for products that reach millions of consumers across diverse cultures. Strong preference for experience with large-scale cloud-based products.
- Hands-on experience in user research, prototype design, and testing, with a focus on measuring design impact through quantitative and qualitative methods.
- Experience or strong interest in one or more of the following: addressing disinformation, promoting media literacy, fostering critical thinking, data-driven and evidence-based decision making, strategies for identifying and mitigating disinformation and misinformation, fact-checking, content moderation, promoting digital literacy, and collaborative editing. Experience working with or developing tools, platforms, or systems that enhance information quality and transparency is a plus.
- Demonstrated success in building and leading high-performing product teams, including hiring, mentoring, and retaining top talent.
- Skilled in identifying and mitigating product risks, ensuring product stability and reliability throughout development.
- Prior experience in fast-paced startup environments, especially in scaling technology and teams under resource constraints and rapid growth.
