SDSN Switzerland, as part of the global UN Sustainable Development Solutions Network (UN SDSN), works together with its members and partners to implement the SDGs in Switzerland and beyond. The Center for Development and Environment (CDE) at the University of Bern and the Biovision Foundation are co-hosts of SDSN Switzerland. Our dedicated team is looking for a dynamic and team-oriented personality:

Operations and Finance Manager (30-50%)

Based in our office in Bern

In this role, you will make a significant contribution to the success of SDSN Switzerland and the development of our new small office. Your tasks will include:

- Overall responsibility for the strategic and operational management of organizational management, finance and personnel administration

- Administrative support for the co-directors and team

- Depending on the chosen workload, you will work on sustainability-related projects and support the small team within the scope of available capacities.

- Setting up and implementing administrative processes as well as coordinating and controlling financial processes in collaboration with the project teams. Management of the preparation of interim and annual financial statements in accordance with Swiss GAAP FER 21 and the budget process.

- Overview and support of reporting and fundraising processes vis-à-vis donors as well as maintenance and further development of the contact database and administrative processes.

- Responsibility for efficient business processes, IT tools used, liquidity management and financial controlling.

For this position, you bring the following skills and experience:

  • Advanced professional training in finance and accounting or a related field.
  • A talent for working with numbers, experience in finance, ideally in financial management for associations in a responsible position.
  • Experience in human resources and business administration.
  • Ideally, proficiency in French with excellent German and English skills.
  • Strong knowledge of contact databases and IT systems for administrative processes.
  • A proactive, reliable, independent, and structured approach to work, with great attention to detail.
  • A high sense of responsibility, resilience, and enjoyment of multitasking.
  • Openness, integrity, and friendliness
  • Valid work permit in Switzerland
