Progressive Category Manager (all genders)

for retail customers in the Swiss market

Full-time (40 hrs./week), place of work: Baar (hybrid 50/50)

Reporting to the Category Leadership Director, this role is responsible for delivering best in class category leadership with our customers to drive growth and customer engagement.

Using a mix of market, shopper, and customer insights to identify category growth opportunities, the role leverages and executes these through excellence in all Category Leadership initiatives, tactics, and practices.

What are we looking for?
  1. College degree, ideally business related.
  2. GS1/ECR Category Manager certification or equivalent.
  3. 3-5 years of professional experience, including category management, ideally some of it within the FMCG industry.
  4. Customer experience with the ability to engage, influence, and impact customers by providing guidance on the strategic direction of the category.
  5. Category Leadership expertise in relevant Category Management practices.
  6. Broad and in-depth understanding of FMCG context and retail landscape, ideally within the Swiss market.
  7. High analytical acumen with the ability to drive and translate insights into relevant strategies and tactics (actions/initiatives) internally and for execution with our customers.
  8. Good understanding of the annual planning process within a corporation.
  9. Language fluency in both German and English.
What will be your key responsibilities?

Key initiatives and deliverables of the role are to lead the development and execution of the category picture of success through strategic category plans, enabling us to build strong and sustainable category partnerships/captaincies for mutual, profitable, and sustainable category growth of our respective categories.

  1. Deliver category vision content by developing a clear 3-year category strategy.
  2. Achieve competitive advantage through leveraging Mars and customer vision and strategies.
  3. Ensure collaborative category relationships to enable aligned account strategy plans.
  4. Deliver best in class Category Management by taking an objective total category perspective when providing market, consumer, and shopper insights to customer/operational teams.
  5. Deliver Mars NPD launches into the customer including creating category-focused selling stories, identifying listing opportunities/challenges, and providing merchandising solutions to maximize on-shelf delivery.
  6. Collaborate with insight colleagues to deliver in-depth account understanding.
  7. Understand and deploy vision to shelf for customers, leveraging pre-accomplished internal alignment behind customer category strategy.
  8. Identify and push forward tailored range opportunities for the account.
  9. Ensure category growth and objectivity are at the heart of all interactions with customers, delivering step change in customer engagement at all levels.
