Job Scope

The CMO Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the development and execution of a top-tier CMO business strategy and operational framework of MS Pharma. This role involves establishing processes, governance, and a cross-functional team to support the successful implementation of the strategy. Key responsibilities include identifying, evaluating, assessing, and negotiating contract manufacturing opportunities within the pharmaceutical industry, specifically to supply the European, USA, and MS Pharma markets from the MS Pharma manufacturing footprint. The manager will also be responsible for overseeing the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of CMO business processes across the organization.

Duties And Responsibilities

  1. Managing the entire CMO service E2E cycle.
  2. Expand MS Pharma CMO brand awareness.
  3. Develop and execute business development strategy to identify and target potential new clients through effective marketing, revenue analyses as well as utilization of existing networks.
  4. Oversee the design, implementation, and improvement of CMO business processes across the organization. Work closely with different departments to deploy workflows, identify areas for improvement, and implement governance, reporting and strategies that streamline operations.
  5. Maintain relationships with key individuals in the industry.
  6. Have extensive and up-to-date knowledge of industry trends and key collaborations and partnerships.
  7. Develop in-depth knowledge of company offerings to identify profitable business opportunities.
  8. Deeply understand the customer needs both external and internal to ensure accuracy, timely revisions of our proposals to deliver a memorable customer experience.
  9. Collaborate with clients to maintain relationships and understand long-term manufacturing strategies to ensure repeat business.
  10. Responsible for securing new customers and projects, and for maintaining repeat business.
  11. Serve as a secondary point of contact for existing clients in order to keep a pulse on needs, relationship status, and gain an understanding of future business needs. Be available to hear concerns should other avenues not be productive or preferable for the client.
  12. Lead the overall process from proposal generation, responding to requests for information (RFI) or proposal (RFP), contract negotiation (MSA) and providing voice of the customer to management with oral and written reports on customer needs, problems, interests, competitive activities, and potential for new sales for products and services.
  13. Work with Operations management, Supply Chain, Quality, Finance, BD, and RA to arrange high-level meetings with existing clients on execution strategy in order to secure long-term collaborations with key clients.
  14. Attend and actively participate in industry tradeshows, conferences, networking events, and client on-site and off-site meetings, as well as internal Business Development meetings.
  15. Build and maintain the CRM database through rigorous documentation of all communications with clients and potential clients.
  16. Participate in the development of strategies and objectives of the department.
  17. Participate in developing the CMO Opex and sales budgets and managing department to meet the set budget.
  18. Participate in developing the goals and objectives, and the annual plan of the CMO business.
  19. Other duties as assigned by management.
Job Requirements

  1. Master's degree or B.Sc. in Pharmacy, physical or biological sciences, Chemical Engineering.
  2. 10+ years of combined business development/sales and scientific/technical experience in the CMO industry with an existing customer network.
  3. In-depth understanding of CMO operations and processes within a manufacturing organization.
  4. Experience/understanding of the proposal development process, business quotes, budgeting, and managing committed timelines.
  5. Proficiency in both written and spoken English languages. Other languages are an asset.
