Agoda is looking for a Principal Software Engineer specialized in Front End to drive high-performance, cross-platform web applications and lead frontend architecture and delivery across teams.What you’ll doArchitecting and developing high-performance, cross-platform web applicationsLeading the design and implementation of Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) servicesEstablishing and enforcing best practices for front-end testing and quality assuranceDriving initiatives to optimize Core Web Vitals and overall application performanceOwning a large portion of Agoda’s system from vision to implementationEnabling collaboration and cross-team projects on major initiatives to improve service quality, code quality, and architectureProviding thoughtful feedback and fostering an inclusive engineering environment; championing engineering fundamentalsIdentifying opportunities for optimization across the technology stack (cost, efficiency, velocity, developer happiness)Exhibiting technical leadership and communicating complex trade-offs to stakeholders at all levelsWhat you’ll need to succeed10+ years of engineering experienceHands-on experience owning production services with significant impact on design, development, deployment, monitoring, and evolutionCuriosity and a drive to stay on the cutting edge of technology and open sourceAdvanced proficiency in modern JavaScript frameworks and state managementDeep understanding of cross-platform development challenges and solutionsExtensive experience with Backend-for-Frontend (BFF) patterns and micro-frontend architectureExpert-level knowledge of front-end testing methodologies, tools, and best practicesProven track record of optimizing applications for Core Web Vitals and performanceStrong understanding of web security, accessibility, and SEO best practicesAbility to perform deep research and make decisions on complex projects; effective as both a solo contributor and a team playerStrong communication skills with the ability to explain technical details to stakeholders at all levelsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related fieldNice to haveA Master’s or Ph.D. in a technical fieldDeep understanding of React and state managers (Redux, Zustand, Valtio)Experience with C# and .NET CoreExperience with Kotlin or other JVM languagesAbout AgodaAgoda is an online travel booking platform for accommodations, flights, and more.
