MSAT Emerging Technology is recruiting for a PostDoc, located in Schaffhausen.

Manufacturing Science & Technology (MSAT) Emerging Technologies plays a key role in driving technology innovation for the J&J Innovative Medicine Supply Chain. EmergingTechnologies is responsible for the definition of new opportunities, breakthrough- technologies scouting, lab-scale proof-of-principle studies, and demonstrating proof-of- concept at large scale.

The team:

Our team develops and delivers projects that are primarily related to two key MSAT strategic pillars: Process Intensification and Integrated Quality and Real-Time Release. Our team reimagines the way we run and control our manufacturing processes Thereby, driving key advancements in yield, reliability, and efficiency end-to-end.To accelerate the delivery of proof-of-principle & proof-of-concept packages for Manufacturing of Large Molecules / Biologics, we are looking for a contractor in Schaffhausen.

The Role:

Your key responsibility is to support advanced technology projects for process intensification of biopharmaceutical manufacturing through preparation, design, and execution of proof-of-principle and proof-of-concept studies together with scientists and partners in R&D and Supply Chain. Through active partnering within MSAT as well with key functions from R&D and across the supply chain, like Quality, Operations, and Digital, you play a key role in advancing technologies and process innovations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Development of a microbiological control strategy for a continuous Drug Product manufacturing process
  • Coordination of a global cross functional project team for the concept development for non-destructive bioburden testing, PoP (lab-scale) and PoC (at- scale) study design, execution, and reporting
  • Provide input to the technology innovation strategy and business case development
  • Collaborate with business units on next-gen microbial testing
  • Technology scouting and co-development with external vendors
  • Support the Large Molecule Innovation Community

Education:

  • PhD in Microbiology, Biopharmaceutical Engineering or equivalent - preferred

Experience and Skills:

  • Doctorate in Microbiology or Biopharmaceutical Engineering
  • Experience in microbiological techniques is a must
  • Experience in analytical development and (continuous) manufacturing process development.
  • Knowledge and experience in data analyses and report writing
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Team player: working in cross-functional teams
  • Experience with GMP processes is preferred
  • Experience with large molecule drug substance & drug product manufacturing processes is a plus
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities, able to identify and address potential issues proactively and independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; flexible and adaptable
  • Technological and digital curiosity
  • Results and performance driven. Ability to work with limited supervision and guidance.
