Senior Sustainability Data Scientist

About the role
The Systematic Research team sits within the Sustainable Research team and combines technology, data analysis and modelling techniques in order to deliver data solutions, market signals and investment ideas and strategies

How will you make an impact at LOIM
One of the main responsibilities for this role would be to actively assist team to achieve the 3-5 year systematic business plan and contribute to product roadmap being acute aware of alpha generation opportunities and revenue growth opportunities.

Main responsibilities for the role are as follows:
  • Generate novel sustainable investment signals using alternate datasets utilising modern advances in AI and text analysis and interpretation, including but not limited to, LLM variants, Zero-Shot models, Climate BERT (Google BERT) et al.
  • Build a sustainability relayed Big Data mining data platform, which would be scalable, cloud-hosted to process, store, analyse, clean and provide real-time data analytics solutions for a wide range of stakeholders (internal business teams, clients) across LOIM.
  • Cost effective platform: a cloud provider agnostic platform which auto-scales based on consumption needs driven by business objectives.
  • Scalable and agile: build cloud hosted ecosystem (infrastructure as code) with a microservices approach in such way that each service can be added and removed without affecting the entire ecosystem (combining PaaS and IaaS).
  • Replicable: build a platform that serves team needs while some services within the platform can be rented to other Lombard Odier divisions in a tenancy/federated model.
  • Performance: identify data needs and subsequent data storage types in order to maximise applications performance, model effectiveness and reliability.
  • Enrich and build value added analytics to aid investment decisions, based on data stored in the team's internal data platform. Utilising advanced data science and broader AI techniques including but not limited to Machine Learning, Supervised and Unsupervised learning, Deep learning, Reinforced learning and Recommendation systems as well as various forms of Natural Language processing.
  • Create real-time and quasi-real-time data pipelines in order to extract, pre-process and normalise data in order to provide a structured data store.
  • Create ML pipelines to build benchmarks, market signals and insights.
  • Visualise and share refined data obtained by means of web-hosted UIs and APIs.
  • Improve existing models applying advanced statistical models and out of the box solutions starting with creating and delivering quick proof of concepts and prototypes.
  • Ensure robust internal and external market data control and management before data is ingested into internal quant platforms using statistical analysis and with dynamic dashboard.
  • Enterprise value creation: Generate new IP, publish research papers on a periodic basis with rest of the team.
The skills you will demonstrate
  • Ideally 10 years Capital markets experience preferable.
  • PhD in Quant Finance, Computer Science, and STEM subjects preferred.
  • Flexible approach: promptly adapt to new business requests and challenges with a model that responds to client engagement and data based results.
  • Research approach: explore, try and fail or succeed through a proof of concept model which is able to rapidly identify new business opportunities.
  • Data driven approach: the team development is based on data stored within the platform.
  • Collaboration approach: by engaging with internal SMEs and clients the team generates, develops and enriches new ideas and explores business opportunities.
  • Proficient programmer (Python, Java, C++), SQL, Kafka, Keras, TensorFlow, Data Visualisation (Power BI or Tableau), DevOps experience, Cloud Computing expert (Azure preferably).
