The Position

Immerse yourself in the fascinating everyday working life at Roche Diagnostics surrounded by beautiful mountains, not far from the scenic Lake Zug and yet close to the cities of Zug, Zurich and Lucerne. CXSD, Customer Experience and Solution Design team at Roche Diagnostics, is looking for a passionate Product designer intern with knowledge of Graphical User Interface Design for Mixed Realities (VR/AR).

You will explore new frontiers of spatial computing experience and contribute to the creation of product demos that will support strategic decisions in the field for the company. You will learn how senior designers translate business/technical requirements and user needs into design decisions. You will experience how to navigate and apply a complex design system to Graphical User Interfaces. You will grasp how to design for customer centricity by validating your design output through continuous user testing. You will collaborate with software engineers and business stakeholders.

Last but not least, you will be part of a design team of more than 80 professionals who aim to transform the healthcare industry for the better.

This internship position is located in Rotkreuz, Switzerland, hybrid.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver immersive XR experiences from concept to deployment using Unity and/or Unreal Engine and/or ARKit
  • Implement interactive features, user interfaces, and gameplay mechanics for XR applications.
  • Integrate audio, video, and other multimedia elements into XR applications to enhance immersion.
  • Optimize XR applications for performance, scalability, and compatibility across different platforms and devices.
  • Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in VR development to continually improve our VR applications.

Who You Are

You are enrolled or have completed your Master's studies at a university, preferably in the field of Computer Science or Software Engineering within the last 12 months and are interested in applying your knowledge in a modern working environment as part of an internship.

Furthermore you have

  • Proven experience developing XR applications using Unity and/or Unreal Engine.
  • Proficiency in a programming language (C#, C++...)
  • Strong understanding of 3D graphics, physics, and rendering techniques for XR environments.
  • Experience optimizing XR applications for performance and compatibility across different platforms.
  • Curiosity to explore new technologies such as the Apple Vision Pro (edited)
  • Strong knowledge of Figma is a big plus

Technical details:

The preferred start date for the internship is September 2024. Please state your preferred start date and the desired duration of the internship in your application.

Part-time employment is not possible.

If required, it is possible to write a thesis during the internship.
