DCAF – Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance is dedicated to improving the security of states and their people within a framework of democratic governance, the rule of law, respect for human rights, and gender equality. Since its founding in 2000, DCAF has contributed to making peace and development more sustainable by assisting partner states, and international actors supporting these states, to improve the governance of their security sectors through inclusive and participatory reforms. It creates innovative knowledge products, promotes norms and good practices, provides legal and policy advice, and supports capacity‐building of both state and non‐state security sector stakeholders.
DCAF's governing Foundation Council members represent about 50 countries and the Canton of Geneva. Active in countries all over the world, DCAF is internationally recognized as one of the world's leading centres of excellence for security sector governance (SSG) and security sector reform (SSR). DCAF is guided by the principles of neutrality, impartiality, local ownership, inclusive participation, and gender equality. THE ROLE
You will help us take the management of our social media presence and our storytelling there to the next level, and will also be invited to bring your ideas and expertise to other communications projects (website, publications...). This internship will help you grow and develop relevant strategic communication skills and knowledge.
WHAT YOU WILL MAINLY DO
· Follow events and work with our teams to prepare posts for DCAF social media channels: Twitter, LinkedIn (taking photos, drafting articles...)
· Write and produce daily social media content
· Work with the Communications team to design and implement social media strategy that aligns with DCAF's core messaging and strategic objectives (evergreen content, monthly editorial calendar...)
· Monitor social media traffic and metrics
· Develop our presence and expand our followers on social media, with a special focus on Facebook
· Communicate with followers, respond to queries in a timely manner and monitor comments and reviews
WHAT YOU COULD ALSO DO
· Support the promotion of DCAF's knowledge products by regular uploads on the Swiss National Library
YOUR EXPERIENCE
· Storytelling master
· Content creation on private or professional social media
· Comfortable with social media daily use and community-driven mindset
· Fluency in English
· Good writing skill
ADDITIONAL EXPERIENCE THAT WILL MAKE YOUR APPLICATION EVEN MORE RELEVANT
· Graphic design experience is a plus
