Senior Underwriting Analyst

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
- Underwriting and pricing accounts from the global Marine, Energy, Terrorism and Engineering/Construction book of business; with a focus on continuing to build a profitable portfolio in line with RenaissanceRe's strategy and appetite.
- Expected to be a self-starter with regards analyzing and reviewing underwriting submissions, along with deal negotiation & portfolio management.
- Proactively research and explore new business opportunities and client/intermediary relationships with a focus on Europe.
- Preparation and analysis of reports and statistics relevant for portfolio management control, reporting and planning.
- Prepare and maintain deal specific underwriting summaries.
- Collaboration with Actuarial & Pricing teams in alignment around view of risk.
- Reviewing contract wordings and negotiating terms and conditions.
- Ensure consistent data quality checks (incl. accurate representation of deals in REMS), underwriting controls, and SSE documentation.
- Establishing and maintaining client/broker relationships.
- Interacting with internal and external claims and accounting departments to facilitate account processing.
- Accumulation and aggregation monitoring (focus MET) in collaboration with the teams in London and Zurich.
- Support portfolio analytics including portfolio monitoring and preparation for the plan
- Assist in quarterly closing and reporting.
- Monitor industry trends, losses and changes in risk profile.
- Perform external underwriting reviews.
- Bachelor's or master's degree (preferably Business, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or Actuarial Sciences).
- Industry designations such as ARe, CPCU, ACII, CIP or FCIP are a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in Specialty Lines treaty underwriting.
- Well-developed knowledge of general insurance business, including primary and reinsurance underwriting, and claims, accounting, actuarial, and information practices and principles.
- Good understanding of insurance and reinsurance coverage specifics.
- Good understanding of actuarial pricing methodologies and ability to discuss technical pricing concepts.
- Strong analytical skills along with a good understanding of data science and data management.
- Problem solving, able to identify alternative solutions.
- Excellent knowledge of Excel.
- Curious, open-minded, receptive to new ideas and able to anticipate future trends.
- Excellent communication skills including excellent command in English (written and verbal), any other European language is a plus.
- Ability to negotiate and create solutions, as well as develop strong broker and client relationships.
- Strong collaboration skills also internally with colleagues and management.
- Strong work ethics, respects diversity cultural differences.
- Willingness to travel.
