Chartering Contract Manager

Job Description:

  • Negotiate terms and conditions of charter contracts with ship owners or charterers to ensure favorable terms for the company.
  • Organize the start and end of contracts, involving all relevant departments, to swiftly commission the vessel, in collaboration with different departments.
  • Manage the contract effectively, overseeing all aspects of vessel chartering activities, ensuring profitability of managed/operated vessels.
  • Assist with Request For Proposal processes and develop chartering strategies to meet clients' needs and optimize contract performance.
  • Stay updated on market conditions and rates in the industry through various means.
  • Conduct due diligence on charters and/or owners to ensure compliance with company standards.
  • Prepare regular reports and reviews, including analysis of Sale & Purchase and competitors.
  • Support operational matters as required and maintain a high level of organizational efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Law, preferably with a focus on Maritime Law.
  • 3-7 years of experience in chartering, contract management, or related roles within the maritime sector.
  • Excellent command of English, with proficiency in French considered a strong asset.
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in legal principles and regulations governing maritime contracts.
  • Analytical mindset with a proactive approach to risk assessment and decision-making.
  • Proven track record of managing multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail and a dedication to delivering high-quality work.
  • Computer literacy, with expertise in MS Office applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
