Electrical Technician

Introduction

The Engineering Department (EN) pushes back the limits of technology to support physicists in their research. Within the Electrical Engineering (EL) group, you'll join the Maintenance and Operation (MO) section responsible for CERN's electrical network maintenance, distribution, and operation.

If you're a skilled electrical technician experienced in electrical works execution and network maintenance, this role is for you

Functions
  • Liaise with users to discuss needs and propose solutions.
  • Prepare technical files and handle interactions with the design office and contractors.
  • Evaluate quotations, organize and supervise works ensuring safety.
  • Plan and optimize resources for electrical works.

As for operation and maintenance activities:

  • Operate the electrical network efficiently.
  • Supervise and execute maintenance activities on site.
  • Lead corrective interventions, document them, and prepare reports.
  • Participate in an on-call service, including nights, Sundays, and holidays.

Qualifications

Technical certificate, secondary education, or equivalent experience.

Experience:
  • Experience in organizing electrical works and maintenance.
  • Good knowledge of high and low voltage electrical equipment.
  • Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) is a plus.

Technical competencies:

  • Construction, test, and commissioning of electrical circuits.
  • Knowledge of electrical distribution systems.
  • Strong organization, planning, and control skills.
Behavioural competencies:
  • Effective teamwork and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously and achieve results.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in changing circumstances.

Language skills:

Proficiency in spoken and written English or French.

Employment Conditions

Contract type: Limited duration contract (5 years).

Requirements include participation in stand-by duty, work in Radiation Areas, underground installations, and shift work.
