Financial Investment Analyst at CERN

Your responsibilities

As a Financial Investment Analyst, you will collaborate closely with portfolio managers to:

  • Conduct analysis of private markets portfolios of the pension fund;
  • Monitor investments and engage in regular updates with fund managers;
  • Create quantitative models to aid in evaluating new investments, future investment strategies, and the performance of existing investments;
  • Assist in performing due diligence on potential investment opportunities, including financial modeling and scenario analysis;
  • Verify and manage financial data to ensure accuracy and integrity in reporting;
  • Participate in preparing investment reports and presentations for the portfolio management committee;
  • Work with team members on special projects and research initiatives concerning the alternative investments market.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge necessary:

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, proficient in financial modeling and data analysis;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, adept at conveying complex ideas effectively;
  • Keen interest in alternative investments and understanding of private markets;
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team in an international, dynamic, and challenging environment;
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and familiar with investment analysis software tools;
  • Ideally, some familiarity with programming software like Python;
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work with extensive financial data sets;
  • Fluency in English, with the ability to work in French considered advantageous.

Eligibility criteria:

  • National of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • At the application deadline, you should have up to two years of professional experience since graduation in Finance, Economics, or a related field, and hold at least a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
  • Must not have had a CERN fellow or graduate contract previously.
  • Individuals without a University degree are not eligible.
  • Applicants possessing a PhD are not eligible.

What we offer

  • Monthly stipend ranging between 5134 and 5647 Swiss Francs (net of tax).
  • Comprehensive health scheme coverage by CERN (for yourself, spouse, and children), and membership of the CERN Pension Fund.
  • Additional benefits according to individual circumstances: installation grant; family, child, and infant allowances; payment of travel expenses at the start and end of the contract.
  • 30 days of paid leave annually.
  • On-the-job and formal training at CERN, along with in-house language courses for English and/or French.
