Position context:


DSM Nutritional Products - Health, Nutrition & Care is a business group focused on developing and supplying health, nutrition & care solutions for multiple customers.

Innovation leadership, product quality, supply reliability & flexibility to meet customer demands are key success factors to reach our HNC business objectives.


As an intern you will:

  • Provide technical solutions and prototypes in the area of pharma and food in dietary supplements such as tablets, capsules, emulsions, powders, gels etc. with DSM nutritional ingredients such as vitamins, carotenoids, milk oligosaccharides, probiotics, botanicals and conducts stability studies thereof
  • Perform laboratory trials for Market Ready Solution Prototype Development, feasibility studies of new ingredients for competitive evaluation, customers' trouble shooting and production support
  • Execute laboratory tests on lab/pilot scale equipment e.g. tableting and coating machines, capsule filling machine, extruder, Turbula mixer etc.
  • Characterize product samples by methods such as tablet characterization, powder characterization, morphology etc.
  • Organize the laboratory
- work in both Food and Pharma Laboratories using their respective Good Laboratory Practices.

  • Provide input to scientific colleagues on experimental design and interpretation of data and results
- execute experimental work to support multiple research goals and business functions, while respecting DSM Quality and SHE requirements and other relevant standards

  • Bachelor/Master Sc. with experience in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Food technology, Chemistry or similar
  • Experience in production or R&D environment
  • Experience in development of dietary supplements and/or pharmaceutical products
  • Fluent in English; German and any other European language is of advantage
