Lead Pricing Actuary for Global Line Agriculture

As the Lead Pricing Actuary for Global Line Agriculture you will be a senior member of the Agriculture Risk Modelling team.

You will be responsible for the key agriculture markets out of the SCOR global portfolio and perform technical pricing and modelling of large agriculture reinsurance contracts.

You will report directly to the Head of Agriculture Risk Modelling.

Key duties and responsibilities

  • You are the Lead Pricing Actuary for Global Line Agriculture and responsible for the key markets in the global Agriculture business.
  • You lead the pricing analysis of the most important reinsurance contracts (transactional business) in a timely manner and consistent with the agriculture pricing methodology.
  • You guide younger team members with your knowhow and technical knowledge and further advance the pricing methodology.
  • You develop technically robust loss models and methods in close cooperation with team members, underwriters and/or clients and thirdparty service providers
  • You regularly and proactively collaborate with underwriting specialists. You provide technical advice to UW and represent SCOR in client meetings and conferences.
  • You analyse weather, agriculture, and natural catastrophe risks, review scientific literature, and reach conclusions related to underlying hazards, such as drought, flood, frost and hail, and their impact on crops
  • You contribute to SCOR communication and marketing related to agriculture, climate change and sustainability
  • You bring in fresh ideas and together with the team develop the next level of agriculture pricing and modelling methods. You focus on advancing automatization, consistency, and speed

Required experience & competencies

  • Seasoned pricing leader in the reinsurance industry, >7 years of relevant work experience
  • A track record in reinsurance pricing or underwriting of specialty lines, agricultural risk modelling or natural catastrophe modelling
  • Proven experience as a lead pricing actuary
  • Excellent quantitative skills and experience with meteorological and/or agricultural data globally
  • Powerful programming skills in R/R shiny or equivalent
  • Excellent communication skills in English
  • Following knowledge is an advantage
  • Assessment of climate change impacts with a focus on agriculture
  • Financial modelling and commodity market modelling
  • Structuring of parametric insurance products
