Introduction of the Service:The Communications department works to increase the visibility, and build the reputation, of the Geneva Graduate Institute, publishing a wide range of news and marketing content through multiple channels such as print media, websites, podcasts, videos, and social media.


The role:


Under the supervision of _the Head of Corporate and Internal Communications_, the role of writer/editor is to develop and curate content that promotes the Institute and its academics, students, faculty, research and connection with international Geneva.

We are seeking an intellectually curious, creative storyteller who can produce and publish engaging content for a variety of audiences and channels.


Key responsibilities:

  • Research, write and edit a wide range of communications and promotional material for print and online media news stories, articles, newsletters, the Geneva Graduate Institute Review, brochures, web content, intranet, video and podcast scripts, and video transcriptions
  • Recommend stories and produce headline ideas to attract the Institute's target audiences
  • Develop and maintain editorial content in line with the Institute's promotional objectives
  • Maintain and develop the department's editorial calendar and align news articles with current events and/or international UN days
  • Produce the biweekly Geneva Graduate Institute News newsletter
  • Develop content for internal communications campaigns
  • Edit and proofread a wide range of copy for the department and its internal clients, correcting grammar, spelling and punctuation, including clarifying meanings, checking for consistency, smoothing language and polishing style.
  • Assist in the translation of content from French to English when required
  • Promote and enforce the Institute's style guide and editorial guidelines

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • English mother tongue, fluent in French (written and spoken)
  • Degree in journalism, communications or literature, or related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role (higher education experience a plus)
  • A creative thinker with excellent interpersonal, verbal, organisational and written communication skills
  • Advanced editorial skills: research, writing, substantive editing, copyediting, proofreading, translating
  • Comfortable working on multiple projects and juggling a heavy workload
  • Team player who can also work independently
  • Knowledge of SEO and writing for the web best practices
  • Knowledge of Microsoft MS suite and Google Workspace
  • Knowledge of Drupal and Mailchimp is a plus
