The
Director, External Warehousing Category will be responsible for leading the strategic sourcing of > $600 million external spend per year for J&J MedTech companies globally.
This spend is highly complex in nature and requires close collaboration with key stakeholders within Supply Chain DELIVER and the business to strategize, orchestrate and execute.
This Director will identify, develop and direct the implementation of Procurement goals and strategy, plan and direct the organization's activities and deliver against targets for financial performance, quality, and service and compliance adherence.
The individual will provide Global Leadership for Warehousing for providing full life cycle category leadership such as category strategy development, managing key 3PL supplier relationships and nurturing key relationships within the business, as part of the full DELIVER scope.
The individual needs to also demonstrate a strong appreciation and understanding of the complex business needs so as to develop creative solutions to support the business needs both in the immediate term, as well as, the long-term.
The Director-External Warehousing scope of responsibilities include:
- Develop and drive the Procurement vision for, with and through the stakeholder community for Warehousing Category.
- Develop vision, strategy and implementation plan for the total Warehousing Category, and respective subcategories as part of DELIVER strategy, that will effectively meet the longrange requirements and deliver the maximum value for J&J MedTech.
- Provide strategic guidance regarding make vs. buy business supplier selection process as it pertains to Warehousing Category.
- Interface directly with executive leaders of 3PL partners to assure alignment of JNJ's objectives are met, including quality, reliability, innovation and cost. Develop deep supplier relationships with strategic 3PL partners to include data review and analysis, performance management and development and improvement of endtoend value, and bring innovation to the business.
- Understand operational considerations deeply. Identify business needs and partner with DELIVER and BU Source Leaders to deliver annual value improvements and drives competitive advantage.
- Understand longrange requirements for external Warehousing and engage in the strategic planning process to ensure strong synchronization with SC DELIVER.
- Build and maintain relationships throughout JNJ that results in dynamic interactive dialogue on a broad range of perspectives and information critical to the development of optimal approaches and solutions.
- Escalate issues that may impact the Global Procurement organization.
Qualifications:
- Broadbased understanding of Distribution and Warehousing operations and practices.
- Deep understanding of core Procurement areas, mainly Category Management and Supplier Management.
- Excellent stakeholder management acumen with strong influencing skills.
- Strong leadership presence, and proven ability to coach and build teams.
- Strong ability to set strategy direction and align others to it.
- Multicountry and multisector experience preferred with experience across geographies of varied sizes and businesses.
- Strong leadership, vision setting, communication, influencing, collaboration and talent development skills are required.
- Able to prioritize requests and propose effective cost/customer service alternatives when necessary.
- Ability to show judgment in developing new approaches and resolving issues.
- Customer Orientation (building and maintaining strong relationships with e.g. MT DELIVER.
- Strong project and change management capabilities.
- Strong business and P&L acumen.
- Strong verbal and written communication skill with ability to confidently present complex information,
- Ability to continuously improve the organization and to effectively challenge the status quo.
- Fluent command of English (verbal/written)
