Global Procurement Sr Director Global Packaging

Purpose & Overall Relevance for the Organization:
***Lead the Procurement organization for packaging across the Kenvue (Part of the Johnson & Johnson Family of Companies) and transform the packaging category.

The Packaging category accounts for USD1.1bn spend.

The packaging category is characterized by a significant degree of fragmentation, a highly diverse portfolio of Packaging items and a large supplier base with long tail.


The Packaging Category Leader will lead a global and cross-functional category team to develop a robust and superior category strategy that is built on thorough understanding of the external supply market and competitor landscape, latest trends and innovation in closest intimacy with Kenvue's holistic business needs.

The strategy will be penetrating to the sub-category level, in order to be become specific and impactful.

The category Leader will have to work closely and drive alignment with the R&D Packaging development team, the commercial and regional supply chain and procurement teams as well as the ESG office to transform the packaging category to deliver on Kenvue's future aspirations on Packaging, such as:

  • Supply assurance in terms of access to supply, resilience, reliability, quality and compliance
  • Best value sourcing, balancing short
- and longer term taking in full alignment with the company ESG strategy and environmental sustainability goals.

  • Leveraging and managing the respective supply base
  • Spend concentration and supply base consolidation
  • Driving next generation sourcing levers, such as DTV, partner development, endtoend supply chain integration and demand management
  • Drive innovation from suppliers, incl. differentiated functional benefits and worldclass design
  • Shape and form the external supply markets, even when there is lack of critical mass
- strategically engage with suppliers, to create competitive advantage for Kenvue and mutually beneficial supplier relationships
- influence Kenvue demand by demonstrating what is possible and providing options

  • Work closely and influence the various R&D/Packaging development stakeholders into the strategy design, implementation and renewal process to transform the Kenvue packaging innovation pipeline with these stakeholders especially at the early product development stage

Internal to function:
ASI leads, peer CL and regional Procurement Leads
Internal to Kenvue but Outside function: Kenvue SC LT, PLAN, MAKE, R&D, Franchise Leads

External to Kenvue:
Suppliers at CEO level

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and drive category strategy

  • Accountable/Responsible for managing cross functional category team.
  • Accountable/Responsible for category performance, driving annual savings targets for Kenvue
  • Accountable to balance Cost, Resilience, Reliability, Quality, Growth, Sustainability as strategy output
  • Accountable/Responsible for Category deliverables to the region supply chains
  • Accountable/Responsible for defining supplier segmentation and supplier engagement
  • Accountable/Responsible for skillfully orchestrating the implementation of the strategy and laying out the specific implementation plans
  • Accountable for incorporating diverse business needs into Category Strategies
  • Accountable for regular review and renewal of strategies
  • Accountable to integrate Risk Management/Business Continuity Plan mandate

Develop deep market expertise in Category

  • Accountable to develop and share deep understanding in category related markets, understand the current market and anticipate future trends development. Bring the outside to Kenvue.
  • Accountable to bring new technologies to the ASI's for sharing with kenvue R&D/Franchise (and viceversa)

Represent KENVUE to external market

  • Accountable/Responsible to orchestrating Kenvue's GotoMarket for the respective category
  • Accountable for being primary view and voice to the External environment (i.e. suppliers)
  • Accountable for robust MSA's and impactful, result yielding negotiations with key suppliers
  • Accountable as final escalation level for supplier performance related issues
  • Accountable for holistic Strategic supplier relationship management with Key suppliers for Kenvue's future growth.

Represent category to Kenvue leadership and other functional areas

  • Translate category strategy to stakeholders in format relevant to them
  • Provide input and influence relevant make/buy decisions
  • Accountable to provide input to Business Development efforts

Monitor and report on category performance

  • Define metrics for performance tracking to category strategy
  • Report progress against metrics to SC Procurement LT and to Business leadership
  • Use metrics to drive category continuous improvement, manage team members priorities and conclude appropriate actions to mitigate deviations form plan
