The Centre for Health and Healthcare works to identify and scale up solutions for more resilient, efficient, and equitable healthcare systems to deliver the best possible care and keep global populations healthy, happy, and thriving.
The Centre achieves this by engaging a diverse set of stakeholders from international organizations, academic institutions, pharmaceutical and biomedical companies, healthcare NGOs, hospitals, healthcare providers, consumer industries, investors, innovators, infrastructure, and insurance organizations to positively shape the global health agenda.
One of the key forces shaping the future of health is innovation, driven by rapid advances in technologies such as synthetic biology and the acceleration of the digital transformation of health.
As part of a strategic effort to identify and embrace emerging health innovations in the context of the Forum, the Centre for Health and Healthcare is recruiting a Lead for Health & Healthcare Innovation.
The Lead will collaborate closely with Centre for the Fourth Industrial Revolution and other related centers of excellence at the World Economic Forum.
The Lead will also actively engage in building and maintaining productive relationships with independent C4IR Centers and their stakeholders as it relates to health and healthcare innovation.
Establishing productive relationships externally and across the institution will be of utmost importance for succeeding in this role.
Main responsibilities- Conduct landscape review of government, investor, and industry actions to foster health innovations, define the high-level outcomes and opportunities, and recommended focus areas for health & healthcare innovation at the Forum.- Facilitate informal dialogues and meetings to help build trust and coalesce stakeholders around common health innovation challenges and emerging opportunities to improve health outcomes through innovation.- Champion and collaborate with the C4IR Centres, C4IR program team, and other Centres (Nature and Climate, Advanced Manufacturing and Supply Chains, etc.) to establish strong connections and a portfolio of health-focused impact initiatives run by C4IR centres.- Strategically integrate the C4IR independent thematic centres healthcare activities with the Forum's global platform to ensure scaling of impact.- Support the development of a pipeline of future C4IR independent Centres thematically focused on health and healthcare and drive the development towards establishing such centres in collaboration with relevant external and internal stakeholders.- Identify potential use cases and evolve prioritization approach considering factors such as the alignment to the UN's SDGs, measurable and non-measurable benefits for society, return on investments and affordability for business, technology feasibility, operations feasibility, time frame of implementation, and potential risks.- Evidence based recommendations on framework and policy which can specifically be deployed by government and industry for scaled commercial deployment of use cases.
Globally disseminate protocols and frameworks from successful pilots and support international adoption.- Build and strengthen relationships with relevant thematic Heads, regularly identifying opportunities for collaboration on health innovations, to drive greater impact and increase value for partners of the World Economic Forum.
Preferred requirements and experience- Advanced university degree in public health policy, business, or other relevant fields years of professional experience with significant knowledge of health and healthcare industry strategies, trends, and operations across multiple geographies.- Experience in managing global frameworks combined with a network of geographically and/or sectorally distributed initiatives spanning business, government, non-profit, international organizations and/or think tanks would be an added advantage.- Experience in analyzing complex business and societal issues using the most relevant business intelligence and in synthesizing appropriate recommendations.- Executive level presence and presentation skills with the ability to interact efficiently and confidently with global leaders. Proven track record and interest in technologies and new business models driving innovation and impact in health & healthcare across one or more business, public sector, non-profit, think tank or international organization settings.- A flexible, agile, and politically astute mindset necessary for working with face-paced teams in dynamic environments- Outstanding command of English, with excellent written, digital, and verbal communication skills; knowledge of other languages would be an asset.
