MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

  • The Deputy Head of Boarding provides the structure for ensuring that boarding thrives. You may deputise for the Head of Boarding as required. You are expected to attend all relevant evening/weekend events and a number of social events throughout the year. As the Deputy Head of Boarding, you act as the link between students, parents, academic side of the school and lead the way in creating and maintaining a home family environment in which students feel secure and well supported.
  • You will liaise daily with tutors, academic leaders, teachers, pastoral care teams, medical centre, finance, housekeeping, and the school leadership team.
  • Please note that this is a residential position

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Relating to Leadership
  • Actively promoting the ethos of RISE.
  • Promoting an environment of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Providing leadership to benchmark individual student achievement, using a datadriven approach.
  • Ensuring that students are supported to achieve the highest standards in academics while thriving in their own personal development.
  • Actively involved in staff recruitment.
  • Promoting the use of Nord Anglia University to enhance professional development.
  • Creating a positive team atmosphere.
  • Promoting a holistic approach to enhance the quality of student outcomes and encouraging student development.
  • Encouraging school spirit and community involvement.
  • Actively engaging with the Admissions and Marketing in promoting CDL.
Relating to the Boarding Team

  • Leading the Performance Evaluations for Graduate Assistants.
  • Providing an effective induction programme to staff.
  • Providing staff with a weekly bulletin.
  • Co-Chairing weekly meetings to staff.
  • Directing Senior House Parents with their responsibility areas, and their role as mentors.
  • Providing boarding staff with the tools to guide academic follow up.
  • Engaging in a wholeschool approach.
Relating to Students

  • Ensuring a comprehensive and effective student induction programme.
  • Ensuring support for EAL and SEN students.
  • Using the dashboard, ensuring students are on track and managing the Independent Learner list.
  • Providing additional support to students who need it.
  • Fostering opportunities for students to have their voice in the community.
  • Arranging a programme of speakers to promote Guidance and Careers.
Relating to the Boarding Programme

  • Coordinating the monthly boarding assembly.
  • Ensuring that the Boarding Houses reach standards expected through reviews.
  • Supervising and managing concerns in the student and staff community.
  • Arranging a programme of speakers to promote Guidance and Careers.
Relating to Parents

  • Cultivating positive relations with parents.
  • Communicating with parents on individual success, support and discipline issues.
  • Guiding parents with individual student development.
  • Promoting the Boarding Experience to existing and prospective parents.

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • With robust organisational skills marked by a methodical and structured approach, you excel in efficiently managing tasks. Your interpersonal abilities are a cornerstone, characterised by a keen aptitude for listening, openness, empathy, and attentiveness. Demonstrating strong leadership within a team, you are adept at coaching and fostering development among team members. Your problemsolving approach is dynamic, and you continuously seek solutions. You are comfortable in both analytical and creative works. Resilience is ingrained in your behaviour, complemented by a wellbalanced sense of humour

QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Bachelor of Arts degree or equivalent.
  • Experience in teaching.
  • Bilingual English French
  • Good IT skills.
  • Minimum 5 years in Boarding.
  • Middle leadership experience, in an international setting.
