PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


To give support and to assist the External Relations department, as well as programmatic work of Unitaid regarding the area of Partnerships.


OBJECTIVES OF THE PROGRAMME


Unitaid, a partnership hosted by the World Health Organization is focused on accelerating the introduction and adoption of key health products primarily for HIV & co-infections, tuberculosis, malaria and women & children's health.

It creates systemic conditions for sustainable and equitable access and aims to foster inclusive and demand-driven partnerships for innovation.

It designs and invests in innovative approaches to make quality health products available and affordable in low- and middle-income countries.

It promotes collective efforts with partners, countries and communities, unlocking access to the tools, services and care than can deliver the best results, improve health and address global health priorities.


DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES

  • Analyse key health policy events in the international development and global health arena for Unitaid to engage
  • Liaise with external partners/stakeholders on programmatic and administrative matters
  • Provide adequate and timely support and response by monitoring and coordinating with partners/stakeholders
  • Support the monitoring and tracking of activities of partners/stakeholders
  • Prepare relevant reports for Unitaid Board Meeting and relevant subcommittees
  • Acquire and analyze information and perspectives from government officials and institutional counterparts on operational matters creating relationships of trust and understanding that underpin effective coordination and collaboration
  • Under the G20 Health Sherpa's guidance, convening focus group discussions with key stakeholders in preparation of the Health Working Group meetings
  • Host a side event on climate change and health with a focus on reducing the health impacts of climate change through mitigation, adaptation, and reducing carbon footprint, as well as 'climate smart' health products
  • Engage in highlevel discussions to provide expertise and support during the Health Working Group meetings.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education

Essential:
University degree in international relations, political science, development studies or a related field

Desirable:
Qualifications in strategic planning or partnership development.

Experience

Essential:

  • At least five years' experience in the area of external relations and partnerships, some of which gained in an international context, with at least two years in the area of public health.
  • Demonstrated experience in organizing high level events.
  • Demonstrated strategic writing capacity, developing briefing notes and concept papers.

Desirable:
Work experience in the field.

Skills

Sound knowledge of external relations and communication, strategic writing skills. Knowledge of WHO and Unitaid communication and partnerships rules, procedures and practices an asset.

REMUNERATION
WHO salaries for staff in the Professional category are calculated in US dollars.

The remuneration for the above position comprises an annual base salary starting at USD 64,121 (subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance, as applicable), a variable post adjustment, which reflects the cost of living in a particular duty station, and currently amounts to USD 4590 per month for the duty station indicated above.

Other benefits include 30 days of annual leave, allowances for dependent family members, home leave, and an education grant for dependent children.
