Job Description

Your responsibilities

As part of the Technical Coordination team for the CMS Experiment at LHC, you will work for the Safety Team and familiarize yourself with the Safety systems and alarms at CERN and CMS and with the CMS infrastructures and computing tools.

You will then:

Draft, participate and review risk assessments and procedures for projects, works, areas and activities updating the related safety files. Propose and follow up on the implementation of appropriate safety measures to ensure the compliance of Installations, activities and projects. Support the CMS LEXGLIMOS (Large Experiment Group Leader in Matters of Safety), working closely with the CMS Technical Coordination team, with a view to the implementation of the CERN safety objectives in CMS and the definition of the associated priorities and time scales. Keep yourself, and the CMS Technical Coordinator, informed regarding all aspects of safety. Perform incident analysis and follow up on the implementation of safety actions and measures for ensure continual improvement. Support the emergency preparedness within CMS, coordinating and organizing planned evacuation. Provide Safety training courses for CMS collaborators from all over the world.

Your profile

Skills and/or knowledge

Occupational safety and risk management: some experience with assessment of work place activities, hazard identification and analysis. Knowledge of safety-related projects in complex industrial or scientific facilities; Experience in writing safety documentation; Knowledge of safety-conformity assessments including personal protective equipment; Ability to draw-up technical specifications and/or scientific reports and to make oral presentations in at least one of the two official CERN languages (English or French). Fluent in English, the ability to work in French would be an advantage.

Eligibility criteria:

You are a national of a . By the application deadline, you have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Safety or Industrial Engineering (or a related field) and your highest educational qualification is either a Bachelor's or Master's degree . You have never had a CERN fellow or graduate contract before. Applicants without University degree are not eligible. Applicants with a PhD are not eligible.

Contract duration: 24 months, with a possible extension up to 36 months maximum.

This position requires:

Work in Radiation Areas. Interventions in underground installations. Residence in the immediate vicinity of the Organization's installations. A valid driving licence. Work during nights, Sundays and official holidays, when required by the needs of the Organization.
