Marketing Director (f/m/d) SAP Switzerland

 

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES  

We seek someone who leads with passion, creativity, and enthusiasm and is highly motivated to create a working culture of cooperation, self-organization, and psychological safety while driving for high-performance team and individual success equally well.  The Marketing Director for Switzerland is a position that bears responsibility and accountability for driving business results and organizational effectiveness. As Marketing Director, you will develop and implement SAP’s marketing strategy for increased awareness, thought leadership, demand and revenue growth, customer lifecycle management, and loyalty in Switzerland.  

 

You are expected to drive innovative audience-focused marketing from strategy to execution with an adequate mix of push and pull tactics. This includes strategic direction-setting for marketing plans to meet corporate and local priorities, business performance reviews, and career development. Additionally, you will oversee the development and motivation of a best-in-class marketing organization and engage with internal and external stakeholders on various levels, leaving a strong footprint as a thought leader in the market and leading the Swiss marketing team. 

 

The Marketing Director for Switzerland reports directly to the Head of Marketing of Middle and Eastern Europe (MEE), a member of the MEE Marketing leadership team, and a member of the Swiss extended management team. 

 

WHAT YOU WILL DO 

 

Marketing Strategy and Program Development: 

  • Leading and implementing innovative marketing strategies and programs in collaboration with Customer Success, Corporate Marketing, Product Organization, and Field Marketing to impact the full customer lifecycle and meet pipeline, adoption, renewal, and revenue targets in Switzerland. 

  • Driving a digital-first solid lead generation strategy closely aligned with Corporate Marketing and Digital Hub functions. 

  • Planning and executing Account Based Marketing (ABM) programs to support large-scale pipeline and revenue opportunities through custom-tailored 1:1 and 1: account engagements and executive programs. 

 

Operational Excellence and Team Leadership: 

  • Leading a team of marketing managers to achieve operational excellence by ensuring scalability, leverageability, best practice definition, and continuous learning, while transitioning from strategy to deliverables based on global GTM (go to market) and addressing local business needs. 

  • Guiding the team through the transformation into a modern marketing organization, focusing on building, retaining, and evolving a high-performing team with diverse strengths. 

  • Providing opportunities for team members to grow and achieve and promptly recognizing and rewarding their successes and accomplishments. 

  • Ensuring cross-organizational and cross-country alignment to identify best practices and opportunities, share learning, leverage resources, and innovate to scale better and increase marketing productivity and contribution to the business. 

 

Budget and Investment Management: 

  • Being fully responsible for the overall Swiss marketing program budget and, therefore, for making strategic investment decisions across targeted customer segments, industries, solutions, or market unit opportunities in alignment with corporate, marketing, and regional priorities. 

  • Creating and communicating goals, objectives, and key performance indicators (KPIs) for all marketing initiatives to ensure that return on investment is achieved. 

 

Positioning and Brand Management: 

  • Ensuring persuasive, consistent, and concise messaging across all marketing programs within customer segments, industries, lines of business, and SAP solutions to establish SAP as the preferred partner in digital transformation. 

  • Positioning SAP as the undisputed leader in the market and as a purpose-driven, end-to-end SaaS (Software as a Service) Business Application Software Provider and #1 Business AI (Artificial Intelligence) company on the planet. 

 

Stakeholder and Relationship Management: 

  • Collaborating with Swiss market unit Leadership Teams, including the Managing Director, Chief Business Officer, Sales Heads, etc., to align priorities, track progress, and execute action items that enhance performance and ensure consistency with business strategy and go-to-market plans. 

  • Developing and nurturing productive and influential relationships with internal and external executives. Acting as a thought leader in the market by engaging with PR, analysts, and influencers to bolster SAP's reputation in the region. 

  • Professionally and sustainably managing networking activities internally and externally to foster strong relationships and drive strategic objectives. 

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS

In summary, the ideal candidate is a strategic, results-driven, and adaptable marketing leader, adept at leveraging digital, physical, large-scale, and account-based marketing techniques. They must be proficient in data-driven decision-making and possess exceptional team leadership and development skills. This role requires someone who thrives in a dynamic, complex organizational structure and can effectively communicate and influence across multiple levels and functions. 

 

  • Minimum a Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or equivalent education in Business. 

  • Of 10+ years of experience in Marketing/Business Development/Sales, at least 4 were in leadership positions with a proven record of accomplishing concrete business results.  

  • Experience in SaaS marketing within the high-tech sector or similar subscription-based industries. 

  • Recent experience and knowledge of the Swiss marketplace. 

  • Broad understanding of all marketing tactics - from the innovative web to account-based marketing, customer lifecycle programs to events to drive revenue and transform brand and customer experience.   

  • The ideal candidate knows how to navigate the corporate matrix, leverages global assets, and adds local flavor to it to make it most relevant for the key target audiences.   

  • Strong skills related to people development, trust building, empowering, motivating, and developing teams in a virtual environment.   

  • Strong digital and account-based marketing track record, sales marketing experiences, and proven business results. 

  • Heavily data-driven marketing mindset and experiences in marketing automation are beneficial.   

  • Excellent German and English communication, negotiation, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.   

  • Familiar with operating within matrix organizations and a record of accomplishment as a thought leader and influencer in physical or virtual communities.
