The Position

In Roche’s Pharmaceutical Research and Early Development organisation (pRED), we make transformative medicines for patients in order to tackle some of the world’s toughest unmet healthcare needs. The pRED Data & Analytics team is the bridge between digital technology and science. We help drive pharmaceutical and medical innovation and are integral to the development of innovative treatments for patients. This position is anchored in the Data Products & Platforms Chapter within Data & Analytics (D&A). The Data Products & Platforms Chapter in D&A brings together all competencies required to design, build, operate and evolve our digital landscape and the pRED-wide data backbone. We enhance the full scientific data pipeline from structured data capture to powerful data integration and efficient data interrogation in order to create and develop successful drug molecules as efficiently as possible.

Role Mission

As a solution engineer in Data & Analytics, you will be responsible for designing, building, managing and optimizing applications and data pipelines and then moving these effectively into production for key data and analytics consumers. You will work in multidisciplinary matrix teams and interact with diverse stakeholders to ensure the successful realization. You will collaborate with colleagues from the wider D&A community of pRED and beyond to ensure an integrated and effective product landscape.

Your Impact

We are looking for a solution engineer to join us in driving the digital transformation of research for patients, which includes, among other topics:  

  • You will drive and shape the development of innovative digital solutions to optimally support complex research activities with state-of-the-art automation, data management and utilization concepts

  • You will establish and nurture effective partnerships with research IT specialists, external companies and our scientists.

  • You will be part of a highly-motivated international team with a global footprint as part of a dynamic, inclusive environment which gives you full accountability for your own contributions and development

Who you are

  • You have designed, implemented and rolled out solutions with a medium to high degree of complexity, ideally in the biotech/biopharma context.

  • You have expertise in Python designing and developing high-performing, scalable, and maintainable data-centric applications. You incorporate good coding practices such as unit testing, version control, and continuous integration.

  • You have expertise in using public clouds to build cloud-native architectures that make extensive use of containerization, queues, asynchronous programming, infrastructure-as-code, and continuous delivery. AWS is a plus.

  • You bring strong experience with relational databases and complex schema design.

  • You have some experience working with modern web frontend technologies and developing software with JavaScript/React/Node.js

  • Preferably, you have been in agile delivery setups, and you are used to working in a matrix environment.

  • Your profile is rounded off by having excellent presentation and communication skills in the English language.
