Developing of algorithms for estimating breathing motion in the abdomen and thoraxAt our R&D site in Dättwil, Switzerland, with more than 400 employees, mostly engineers, computer scientists and physicists, we specialize in the development of imaging software and hardware as well as treatment management systems for radiation therapy cancer treatment. Join Varian’s Oncology Systems team, and the work you will do can make a difference by helping to create a world without fear of cancer.
In this position, you will become member of a passionate team of highly competent software engineers and scientists developing next-generation products which will further increase the accuracy and confidence during radiation treatment targeting anatomies undergoing physiological motion.
If designing and implementing algorithms combining physical simulations, high-performance computing (HPC) and computational anatomy is your passion, this is the job you are looking for
Responsibilities
Design, implement, test and maintain algorithms for fast and accurate motion modeling of anatomical structures.
Use modern HPC techniques (mainly GPU acceleration) to achieve computation times compatible with clinical deployment.
Evaluate and integrate machine learning to further improve the speed and accuracy of our algorithms.
Conduct laboratory experiments to test, validate and perform troubleshooting investigations.
Provide and maintain documentation about algorithm design, test specifications and validation results.
Qualifications:
MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Biomechanical Engineering or related degree.
Excellent programming skills and knowledge of recent standards of modern languages (C++, Python).
Provable hands-on experience with HPC, namely GPU acceleration through CUDA.
Background in physics-based modeling and computational anatomy.
Experience with development of a production code in a high-regulated environment is a plus.
Analytical and structured mind, strong communication skills (written and verbal), fluency in English.
Strong sense of teamwork and source code ownership.
You enjoy working in a team in a complex domain, where you can bring in your experience and expand your knowledge every day. You are open to discuss ideas and elaborate solutions with your team colleagues in Europe and overseas, as well as with our clinical experts. You have strong problem-solving skills and can find creative solutions to system issues and user problems. And you like to work with real devices to ensure our SW products are fully functional and safe.
