Development of algorithms to estimate breathing motion in the abdomen and thorax.
At our R&D facility in Dättwil, Switzerland, we focus on imaging software, hardware development, and treatment systems for radiation therapy cancer treatment. Join Varian's Oncology Systems team to make a difference in the fight against cancer.
In this role, you will join a team of skilled software engineers and scientists working on cutting-edge products that enhance the accuracy of radiation treatment for moving anatomies.
If your passion lies in designing and implementing algorithms involving physical simulations, high-performance computing (HPC), and computational anatomy, this is the ideal job for you.
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, test, and maintain algorithms for fast and accurate motion modeling of anatomical structures.
- Utilize modern HPC techniques (especially GPU acceleration) for clinical deployment-compatible computation times.
- Incorporate machine learning to enhance algorithm speed and accuracy.
- Conduct lab experiments for testing, validating, and troubleshooting.
- Create and manage documentation on algorithm design, test specs, and validation results.
Qualifications:
- MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Biomechanical Engineering, or related field.
- Strong programming skills in languages like C++ and Python.
- Hands-on experience with HPC, particularly GPU acceleration using CUDA.
- Background in physics-based modeling and computational anatomy.
- Experience in developing production code in a highly regulated setting is advantageous.
- Analytical mindset, excellent communication skills, fluency in English.
- Strong teamwork ethos and code ownership.
