# Senior Backend Developer ##

About the Role
 Wyden is seeking a Senior Backend Developer to design and implement strategic features for its institutional digital asset trading technology platform. The role focuses on building scalable and modular trading infrastructure, including low-latency order management, execution algorithms, smart order routing, event handling, and business services. You will work in a collaborative engineering environment alongside product management, development teams, engineering leadership, and customers. The position involves distributed systems engineering, cloud-based services, performance optimization, security, and modern AI-assisted development practices. The role is remote, with a preference for candidates located within approximately 90 km driving distance of Lisbon who are able to travel for in-person collaboration a few times per month. ##

Key Responsibilities

* Design and implement future releases of the Wyden platform. \
* Develop key infrastructure components including low-latency order management, execution algorithms, smart order routing, event handling, and business services. \
* Build and operate distributed systems in cloud environments. \
* Collaborate closely with product management, development teams, the Head of Development, and customers. \
* Apply current industry trends and engineering best practices to platform and product development. \
* Develop resilient, scalable, and high-performance backend solutions. \
* Work with asynchronous and event-driven architectures. \
* Implement secure authentication and authorization mechanisms. \
* Contribute to cloud-based application development and integration testing. \
* Support containerized application environments using Docker, Kubernetes, and AWS EKS. \
* Apply engineering practices for idempotency, replayability, API versioning, schema versioning, and fault-tolerant system design. \
* Use performance optimization techniques for low-latency systems. \
* Incorporate modern AI-assisted development tools into software engineering workflows. ## Required Qualifications \
* 8–10 years of engineering experience. \
* Exceptional proficiency in Java and/or Kotlin. \
* Strong experience designing and building distributed systems. \
* Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. \
* Strong experience with distributed systems and architectures. \
* Experience with asynchronous and event-driven systems. \
* Experience with messaging systems, including Kafka and/or RabbitMQ. \
* Knowledge of idempotency and replayability. \
* Experience with API and schema versioning. \
* Knowledge of resilience, failure handling, and fault-tolerant system design. \
* Experience with performance optimization and low-latency systems. \
* Experience with AWS, including cloud-based application development and integration testing. \
* Experience with Docker and Kubernetes, including AWS EKS. \
* Strong use of modern AI-assisted development tools. \
* Understanding of security, authentication, and authorization mechanisms. \
* Ability and willingness to travel for in-person team collaboration a few times per month. ## Preferred Qualifications \
* Experience in financial services, trading, capital markets, and/or cryptocurrency. \
* Passion for the institutional digital asset ecosystem. \
