Job overview
We have the opportunity for individuals who are caring and compassionate and enjoy being part of an established and hard-working team, to join us on Ward 21 in a Health Care Assistant role. The right candidate will implement a high standard of care and ensure patient safety is paramount.
Previous care experience is essential, and completion of care certificate is desirable.
Advert
- Assist the Registered Nurse in administering direct patient care.
- Communicate clearly with patients, carers, relatives and all members of the multidisciplinary team.
- Communication with patients including discussion on patient comfort and safety and recording of communications on Wirral Millennium.
- Prioritising own workload.
- Inform qualified staff of changes in patient's condition
- Escort and chaperone patients as appropriate.
- Communicate with patients/carers taking into consideration the needs of the individual.
- Undertake some clerical duties such as filing.
- Ensure availability, cleanliness and maintenance of equipment .
- Assist in the safe handling of patients valuables and property.
- Adhere to Wirral Hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines.
- Report any concerns or anxieties that patients disclose to the appropriate health care professional in charge of patient care.
- Participate in ward safety huddles and raise concerns as required.
- Actively participate in maintaining patient comfort and support patients to change position to maintain healthy skin integrity.

Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) Information
If the post you are applying for requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, please note that, in line with Trust policy, the cost of submitting and processing the DBS application for successful applicants will be met by the individual.
For substantive employees, the DBS costs are recovered through salary deductions following commencement in post in 3 equal instalments.
For bank workers and individuals appointed to honorary positions that require a DBS check, the cost must be paid in advance via the Trusts payment link before a start date can be confirmed.
Please note that DBS fees and any associated administration charges are subject to periodic review and may change from time to time.
The cost of the DBS check would vary depending on the level required for the role:
- Standard Disclosure £21.50 (DBS Fee) +£6.50 (Administration Fee)
- Enhanced Disclosure £49.50 (DBS Fee) +£6.50 (Administration Fee)
UK nationals or individuals with the right of abode typically meet the residency requirement if they have been ordinarily resident in the UK, the British Overseas Territories, or the Crown Dependencies (Channel Islands and Isle of Man) for at least three years prior to the start date of the apprenticeship.
