The Role

As the Citizenship by Descent Operations Lead, you will own and operate the research, application strategy, workflows, and client experience for citizenship pathways linked to ancestry. You will become the internal expert on the legal and procedural requirements for jurisdictions that allow descendants of former nationals to reclaim citizenship (e.g., Ireland, Italy, Poland, Portugal, Lithuania, etc.).

You will work directly with clients, internal analysts, legal partners, and government contacts to drive successful outcomes at scale.

What You'll Do

  • Oversee and optimize the full CBD application lifecycle—from eligibility assessment to documentation to submission.

  • Maintain a deep knowledge base of lineage-based citizenship laws across multiple jurisdictions.

  • Review family records, lineage documents, translations, apostilles, and genealogical proofs.

  • Build and manage international legal, genealogical, and document procurement partners.

  • Develop client-facing workflows and timelines that are efficient, transparent, and repeatable.

  • Ensure cases are tracked, progressing, and communicated clearly to clients.

  • Identify new citizenship-by-descent opportunities in additional jurisdictions.

  • Train and lead junior team members as the CBD division scales.

What We're Looking For

  • Strong background in either immigration law, citizenship applications, genealogy research, consular processes, or government document authentication.

  • Extreme attention to detail—especially in legal documentation.

  • Process-building and project management experience.

  • Comfort with directly managing client expectations and complex timelines.

  • Clear, professional written and verbal communication.

  • Comfort working with global jurisdictions, partners, and time zones.

Bonus points

  • Experience with Italy, Ireland, Poland, or Portugal citizenship by descent cases.

  • Experience with apostille/legalization workflows.

  • Multilingual fluency (especially Portuguese, Italian, Spanish, or Polish).
