Main Purpose:We are seeking a high-calibre Portfolio Manager to support the management of a diversified portfolio of Oil Assets across the Trafigura Group. The successful candidate will blend hands-on support to the Head of Oil Assets alongside end-to-end accountability for select assets where the Portfolio Manager may also act as Asset Director. We are seeking an individual who is able to manage performance and governance of assets, but remain agile, driven and pragmatic enough to handle the wide ranging priorities of a fast paced portfolio function.

The role should be considered development in nature for future senior leaders. It encompasses meaningful ownership, exposure to board-level issues and the opportunity to drive strategic, financial and operational value across a complex international asset portfolio.Knowledge Skills and Abilities, Key Responsibilities:

Asset Accountability

  • Serve as Asset Director for a defined set of assets, responsible for performance oversight, governance, and delivery of annual/long term planning

  • Be the primary interface to the Asset CEO and their Executive Committee for escalated commercial or operational issues

  • Ensure strong working rhythm with the Trafigura Commercial lead and wider Asset Division

Portfolio Management

  • Support the Head of Oil Assets in managing portfolio level performance, risk, and strategic positioning

  • Assist on the preparation of the dashboard, board reporting, Executive Committee updates and post-investment reviews

  • Support on cross asset performance analysis

  • Help the Head of Oil Assets in the divisional/portfolio asset Strategy development

Strategic and Financial Analysis

  • Review asset budgets, capital expenditure plans, performance forecasts

  • Provide deal support on M&A bolt-on opportunities, divestments, or integration activities in the portfolio

Governance & Execution

  • Assist to maintain and enforce governance structures, delegated authorities, and performance frameworks

  • Support coordination across key interactions within the Asset division (Finance, HR, HSSE) and wider Trafigura Group (Legal, Trading etc)

Trusted support in Asset Division

  • Ability to take on overflow work and support urgent deliverables on behalf of Head of Oil Assets as required

  • Provide coverage in key meetings (internal and external) where required.

Candidate Profile:

  • 8 to 10 years in Strategy, Corporate Development or Capital-intensive operational roles

  • Ideally with Private Equity, Infrastructure fund, or Upstream/Downstream exposure

  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, strong governance instincts, and highly adept at cross-functional coordination

  • Experience within Upstream and/or Refining assets will be well regarded.

Key Relationships and Department Overview:

Reporting directly to the Head of the Oil Assets, this role will collaborate with various teams across the organisation including: 

Asset Directors:  Works closely with Asset Directors to ensure execution of the portfolio's strategy.

Commercial Leads: Engages with Commercial Leads to align on commercial objectives and ensure seamless coordination.

Asset Leadership: engagement through structured reporting, governance forums (incl Board) and performance review meetings

Other Divisions: Collaborates with other division heads (e.g. Trading, M&A) to manage cross-functional and cross-division tasks.

Internal Teams: Works with (for e.g.) Legal, HR, Finance, Compliance, and other internal teams to ensure the asset operates within defined Group standards.
