Engineering Manager

Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will join an interdisciplinary team that designs medium-voltage converter systems for global customers in applications such as wind power plants and industrial installations. From order entry to customer satisfaction, you'll be part of delivering innovative, high-quality solutions.

Our scope is expanding to include system-level planning and interface coordination, where ABB takes responsibility for commissioning complete systems, including transformers, motors, and control systems.

The work model for the role is: hybrid #LI-hybrid

This role is contributing to the Medium Voltage System Drives, Motion High Power Division, in Untersiggenthal, Switzerland.

You will be mainly accountable for:

• Designing and configuring air- and water-cooled medium-voltage converters, ensuring compliance with cost and schedule requirements, and preparing related technical documentation.
• Executing and supporting converter projects in collaboration with project management, electrical engineering, production, and testing teams, while contributing to large-scale system projects and clarifying interfaces for transformers, converters, and motors.
• Providing technical support to sales and project teams, including participation in customer meetings and technical acceptance, and presenting mechanical solutions during client discussions.
• Facilitating continuous improvements in products and engineering processes to enhance quality, efficiency, and innovation.

Qualifications for the role

• You hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• You have a solid understanding of medium-voltage systems and power electronics.
• You are familiar with converter technologies, electrical design principles, and system integration.
• You bring experience with SAP and engineering tools.
• You are an effective communicator with customer orientation and a systematic working style.
• You are proficient in German and English.
• You have initial relevant experience in electrical engineering or medium-voltage systems.
• You are open to minimal travel (up to 5%).
