Data Architect

Help us build the data foundation that powers growth across Marketing, Product, CX, and Finance.

Work location: Lausanne / Hybrid.

Your 'day to day'

  • Design the model
    : Own the Customer 360 and analytics marts (star/dimensional) in BigQuery/BigLake; define data contracts, naming, and SLOs (freshness, availability, accuracy).
  • Build the platform
    : Ingest from Shopify, Klaviyo, Gorgias, Skio, TikTok/Meta Ads, Northbeam, Amazon Seller Central via Fivetran/Airbyte or custom Python; orchestrate with Cloud Composer (Airflow) or Prefect; expose curated data through Cloud Run/Functions.
  • Real-time & CDC:
    Implement Pub/Sub + Dataflow pipelines; set up CDC with Datastream/Debezium where needed.
  • Quality, lineage & privacy:
    Ship dbt tests and anomaly checks; stand up catalog/lineage with Dataplex/Data Catalog; enforce GDPR/CCPA (minimization, masking/tokenization, retention, DSAR).
  • Performance & cost:
    Tune BigQuery (partition/cluster/materialized views/BI Engine); manage slots/reservations and cost dashboards; define monitoring/alerts and incident playbooks.
  • Activation & BI:
    Enable reverse ETL (Hightouch/Census), event collection (Segment/RudderStack); partner with analytics/marketing; support BI (Looker/Mode/Metabase/Hex).

Who we're looking for

  • Experience:
    at least 5 in data engineering/architecture (including 2–3 years on Google Cloud), experience working with ecommerce businesses/projects.
  • Tech depth:
    Advanced SQL and strong Python; hands-on BigQuery (schema design, performance, slot mgmt), dbt ELT, and Composer/Airflow or Prefect.
  • Integrations
    : Proven REST/GraphQL work (auth, pagination, rate limits, backfills).
  • Ops & governance:
    Delivered data quality/observability, lineage, data contracts, and privacy/security controls on GCP.
  • Collaboration:
    Clear communicator who translates business needs into scalable, reliable data solutions with agreed SLAs.

Nice to have

· Streaming/CDC on GCP (Pub/Sub, Dataflow, Datastream), near-real-time use cases.

· FinOps for BigQuery (slots, reservations autoscaling, workload isolation).

· Identity resolution/householding and attribution integrations (e.g., Northbeam).

· Vertex AI feature pipelines; BI performance tuning.

Education & Certifications

· Bachelor's in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Information Systems, or equivalent practical experience (Master's a plus).

· Preferred certifications: Google Professional Data Engineer; nice-to-have Google Professional Cloud Architect or Professional Cloud Database Engineer; dbt Developer/Analytics Engineer; privacy (IAPP CIPP/E or CIPT)
