Internship AI-Augmented Software Engineering

We're looking for a motivated and curious intern to help us explore new ways of building software with generative AI. In this role, you'll experiment with AI-assisted and agentic coding approaches to take a web application from concept to implementation.

This is not a toy project: While the internship will serve as a proof of concept for AI-driven software engineering, the application you build will be a real product we plan to bring to market. Your focus will be on designing requirements, refining specifications, and testing - while automating as much of the code generation as possible.

You'll work closely with a product owner, who will provide use cases and specifications, and you'll be supported by experienced developers and AI specialists. This internship is your chance to tackle real-world software engineering challenges while working with state-of-the-art AI technologies.

Your tasks
  • Experiment with state-of-the-art AI-assisted coding workflows, using a tool such as Kiro or Cursor
  • Orchestrate AI agents to create and develop a new application
  • Translate product requirements into functional prototypes and iterate to production-ready quality
  • Document insights on where AI-augmented coding accelerates (or challenges) the development process
  • Report on effectiveness of AI agents in software engineering. (strengths/limits)
  • Contribute to shaping our internal practices around AI-first development
  • Deploy the application in a test environment
Your profile
  • Enrolled in or recently completed a BSc/MSc in Computer Science, Data Science, or Engineering
  • Passion for software engineering and curiosity about new technologies
  • A solid understanding of Large Language Models, how they work and what you can expect of them
  • Good programming skills in TypeScript/JavaScript
  • Familiarity with Angular is a plus
  • Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to dive into complex technical topics
  • Team Player with clear, proactive communication
  • Good knowledge of English required. German is a plus

This role is based in Zurich. The duration at 100% workload is 6 months. The minimum workload is 80%, extending the duration accordingly.
